Does this game have "Stealth Kills"
So, if I sneak up on someone with a melee weapon and am hidden because I've got Stealth 4, assuming their health isn't insane or anything, will the game do a silent kill cinematic like Skyrim would do? Or other various games? Basically is there a prompted kill indication or similar so that I can try and do silent runs of bases and stuff?

you don't get a cutscene, but it does have stealth kills.
hitting from stealth with a melee weapon and the correct skill perks and weapon mods will do a large multiplier of damage.

you can also silence most weapons, rather than try to bring a knife to a gunfight. But if you insist, the chameleon perk on armors is very useful for ambushing patrollers.

No prompts, no kill animations but there are Stealth and Concealment skills etc. I always play a stealthy character.

yeah i've got suppressors on most of my guns, and rank 4 in Stealth, I just haven't invested anything into the actual weapon perks themselves (ballistics, energy, etc), or melee. Was just curious if it would actually register it as a silent instakill if I did try and put a shiv up someone's backside like Skyrim would do or not. Because currently my weapons aren't really strong enough to one shot, even with a headshot, most enemies.

You can get around with sneak attacks. These are based on enemies that are currently unaware of you so its not limited to melee attacks from behind.
The only problem you have is that those do not immediately flag targets as dead and apply damage instead. Which means a strong enemy can survive your backstab. And critical headshots are kinda hard with a blade from behind. :HighAggro:

yeah i know what a sneak attack is, i've played plenty of bethesda games. I was simply trying to clarify the detail about melee attacks and if it was simply just an "insta-kill" because you did enough damage to them and they fell down (but still would scream and alert guards), or if it was like previous titles like Skyrim, where it specifically wouldn't give away your position if you dropped them with a melee stealth attack.

I don't think I have spent anything on stealth and have taken to just jump packing behind pirates and one two wazikashi. I think I have a point in melee but maybe not. I've spent time upgrading ranged weapons and am amazed at the rapid melee kills.
get a dagger like thing with high damage, creep behind them, and one shot them.
Or try to do that and then andrea cuts loose with a gatling laser
You can use grenades to distract as well.
