Frustrating death loop (space combat)
How does one actually grav jump after being engaged? This is like the 5th bounty I've gone on that warps me into a room with ~10 enemy ships, which means I immediately about face and run. Unfortunately, because the enemy ships never seem to lose aggro even when you fly out of range, you can't actually escape and have to eventually just turn around and fight, which leads to my death.

Was this yet another ridiculous oversight by the dev team or am I just missing a mechanic, here?

You will never outrun enemy ships without a grav jump. Boost away from them plot a course, and dump as much power as you can into your grav drive, and jump to another system.

That's what I'm talking about - I can't even activate the grav jump because it says I'm engaged, even after boosting so far away they no longer show up on my radar. Is this a bug or am I just missing something?

Is your game fully updated??? I have never had issues jumping away from a fight, even when I was engaged...... (try jumping into kryx once..... :) )

It may be a mod conflict or a bug, then - just wanted to make sure I'm SUPPOSED to be able to run and I'm not just missing something. Appreciate it!

The game CAN be a tad fickle on occasion. :D

Maybe its fast travel that's disabled in combat? But there's a chapter of the UC quest line, where you have to jump away while being pummeled. Open galaxy map, select a POI in another system, which should automatically engage grav drive to get you there. And as HeyYou mentioned, put a bunch of pips into grav power. I use weapon pips since I'm not using them for a retreat.

Yup. I take as much as necessary to fully power the grav drive, and I jump in under a second....

I think you are correct in the 'no fast travel while in combat' thing though. I know its disabled on the ground.... Even if you aren't aware you are "In combat"..... That one came as a surprise a couple times...

You have to pick a planet in another system. You can't "jump" to a planet in the same system. Also, you can't try to fast travel directly to a planet surface.

A thing, at low level, that I do is try boarding a ship and kill the crew.

Then, it's one down.

Undock, escape and try the same thing if you don't have enough shield or firepower until you can manage the battle ... .

You can dock while still in combat???? Don't think I have ever tried that... (at least, having more than one ship still actively trying to kill me, whilst attempting dock.

Does that even work in the simulator?

It don't work in the simulator.

They have changed the game mechanic for boarding, I think.

So, now you can board any ship at any time ... .

And, one thing to add, you can even loot some "Astra" by doing that ... !!!

They changed the boarding of derelict ships after updates and you can no longer repair any derelict ship nor can you change its name after paying the ships registration fee, etc.

Story scenarios will differ from another on letting you grav out or not. Encounters I've noticed will let me grav out soon after I first see red.
