Something simple I would like to see is an option to just select the whole ship, set a color, and then go back and select other pieces to change to add some character to the paint job, and be able to copy that exact extra color to each piece I want to make different. The problem is, to those familiar enough with the interface, this is probably easy to do. But I can't figure it out with the in game instructions (or lack thereof) given. So I've just given up on painting.
There is an option to select the whole ship and paint it, using Xbox controller; its left bumper.
For keyboard, someone else will have to chime in.
This is also useful for making sure all pieces are connected. If they don't highlight with this method they don't connect. You can grab and pull the connected pieces to have a clear view where the problem is.
