As for choice between your options i would go Abys for style and put full turret setup on it. Hop in and let it wreak havoc while you have 2 platforms to mounts these weapons on
Mission bounty board is your friend here, take up a mission that has the word Fleet in it and it wil be a space encounter. Capture it then go to a planet side techy to register and build on. Cant get much cheaper like that
btw i suggest NOT the narwhal. its bugged. it goes invisible after you work on it. once you change it. it bugs out. it seems to be a issue with the narwhal specifically
Upgrading the reaction was the first thing i did to fill all systems with max energy.
Then shields
Then rockets that do a lot of hull damage
And then Laser getting the shileds down quickly.
You might need to update the skill shipdesign to get better elements.
I personally enjoy taking ships and modifying them so that they look like a heavily altered version of that ship, rather than something entirely new.
306 hours into the game and I've spent well over 1.5 million buying and selling ships.
The Narwhal I purchased twice it was so good.
Truth is, the last patch bugged the Narwhal, so I sold it and purchased the Dragonfire II, which is also good. Mostly due to its interior design.
I didn't like the interior of the Narwhal.
I may purchase the Narwhal again in the future. It is certainly one of the best purchasable ships that I've encountered in the game.
I get a huge discount on ships due to the Commerce Skill.
It's really not hard to save $300,000 if you're a looter-explorer-side quester.
I can't.
I'm not a skilled crafter in this game. I barely know how to fry an egg.
I learned how to make Aurora last night. I can get high and fry eggs. That's about it.
Besides, I hate the interior of the Narwhal. It's like a maze trying to get to the captain's chair.
The interior design of the Dragonfire II is one of the best I've seen so far.
The smaller ship is faster and more mobile and can carry the same top weaponry and shields, so it makes a better combat ship. But in NG+ and higher levels, unless you use a mod which scales the enemy crews and ship levels to match your own level, battles against multiple ships end quickly without any problem.
