The new gameplay settings are awesome!
The new settings to make this game more realistic and more like a survival game which makes Starfield a much better game, and it was a great game before.
I am now playing a new playthrough with most of the new settings on and enemy combat and ship damages on extreme, and I am having soo much dang fun more than in my previous playthrough.
These new gameplay settings is easily a game changer for Starfield.

Couldn't agree more - one of my beta characters got to level 90 and I'm going to keep playing to level 99.9 and then upload the save for those that are time restricted (if they care about achievements). I also rolled a new toon on the release version and am level 17 and it's still just as fun as the beta.

During the beta I did a lot of FAFO... and boy did I find out, had some monumental deaths... loved it! I expect I'll be dying a lot less now that I've got some Extreme experience under my belt... wait... wtf did my belt go?? VASCO!?!?!

Everyone should sleep one hour outside on Bessel III-b... you really should :SF_Sandwich:

Yes. You can see it by simply entering the Vanguard flight simulator. In the original game I completed all 6 tiers practically in one go. In NG+10 I consider myself lucky to be able to complete 4 tiers on normal difficulty. You will be tempted to lower it to easy to just be done with the mission LOL. It’s brutal on higher difficulty.
Same for the other space battles — against the First (Mech base), against the Starborn (Buried Temple) and against the Crimson Fleet (Key). Even Va’Ruun ships (Serpentis) become somewhat challenging. A good source of XP and a lot of fun, though.
You must have a really good ship to defeat the high level enemies in NG+10.

Training piloting, targeting etc. should be done in the simulator when you first start your original game. Accumulate 10-15 skill points and go farming the simulator. That’s the best way to quickly max out these skills early while the sim is still easy.

I am very happy alcohol is hydrating and I never have to sleep! Super realistic!

Get ready for the CA perma bender!

It would be awesome if turning on the survival options didn't give me a 34x sneak multiplier. The fact that Bethesda can't get simple bugs like this fixed in a timely manner is truly pathetic.

Wait until you get a few points in Concealment w/max rank Sneak... then you get a 58.?x sneak multiplier.

Unity help you if you DON'T get a sneak attack

Nah, I rushed NG+ until I got the final armor, ship etc and everything is still the same.

I think I had to do 7 runs or so?

it does ever so slightly but given you have more armor, levels and stats you probably dont feel it much. I googled and found this:

The base version of Starfield, starting a New Game+ run does make the overall experience slightly more challenging by increasing the amount of damage enemies deal by 10%, eventually capping out at 100% in New Game+10

That's not a lot then, considering my usual strategy was to just rush the fragments once in NG+ with the Cutter as my main weapon lol.

You really don't feel it much.

Yeah, i totally get that. You gain more than 10% strength through a full run so by the time you beat the game, you are so overpowered anyway that 10% is negligible.

I really like how they have a bonus/malus to XP that you can balance out. It makes it feel like I'm *buying* the easier settings instead of cheating.

I think the ship combat kind of falls flat for me, but I like the ground combat so I can turn up the difficulty on one and turn it down on the other without feeling like I'm cheesing anything.

thats the beauty of it, you can customize it to your liking. Got to love that.

I am in NG+11 at Level 175 and I found that playing on Extreme was simply intolerable. I disabled and docked a Va'Ruun ship in the Serpentis system and could not get past the second room. I kept getting 1 shot Critical Hit vaporized before I could even get a shot off. Had to scale it down to "Very Hard" after I died about 4-5 times in a row.
I have found that you can manipulate some settings to get more XP. For example, set Vendor Credits to "Reduced" which will give you +4% XP and just leave it there until you intend to sell stuff. When you want to sell stuff, set Vendor Credits back to "Greatly Increased", sell all your stuff then set it back to "Reduced".

I like it too, still room for improvements though:
-Disable fast travel on dangerous planets
-Taller fences that can be used as cover without getting headshotted
-Some kind of camping kit that can be used in caves etc on the barren planets
-Thirst/food/sleep meter
and i could go on, but still its good to see that they are atleast trying to improve the game.
Still need Salvation kit 2 though to make the game interesting

it seems they decided to add increased vendor credits as a difficulty penalty option which was a weird choice. They shouldve just had it normally, since otherwise its just an inconvenience to wait for some days just to restock and then sell rest of things, then wait again etc playing as they "intended". well at least we got it, but in a weird form

Last night I visited the Ka’zaal mines (with lvl 103 character) and it was not fun on Intense. :(
Since I just wanted money to upgrade my ship before going to the Burued Temple and the Unity I lowered the difficulty.
After clearing the mine I went to a nearby Abandoned Farm and oh boy… it was infested with big red dinosaurs lvl 110 who breathed some kind of highly toxic gas/poison. Instant death if you get close. I died while being on the roof where I thought I would be safe from that breath attack.

I’ve never seen these monsters before. They were so big that the one inside the living quarters was slightly glitching through the ceiling. I was able to kill it by shooting at it when it was glitching. No way I would try to enter the building with this creature inside. These monsters are worse than the terrormorphs. I wonder if anyone else encountered them.
