Testing beta update and.......
My heart goes out to those modders who this update destroys. I'm not talking about the mods that can be updated after release. I'm talking about mods like derratech who has released a message on YouTube stating this update kills his mods and now he has to start all over from the beginning.
For a game that was advertised as being happily modable, why don't the bethesda team work with modders when they plan such a big update. Modders put in so much of their own time to create mods, then Bethesda just screws them over.
And no, I'm not one of the modders.
For now I'm going to stop playing the game for a week, for a rest, and hop on a plane towards a place called stranded deep ( joke if you know that game)

Have a good day and Bethesda....pull your finger out and work with the modders. They are the ones that will keep your game alive.

Updates break mods

SF is 8 months old. Plenty more mods are going to break upon updates

It's the circle of life

This. You become a modder, you take the risk.

Yeah it's going to be rough getting mods to work with a game that's busted.
Going to take time...

This is a normal cycle for every game with mods, not just BGS. Games are updated, and modders update their mods after the patch. It is the natural cycle for every PC game with mods over the last decade or so.

Official modding tools aren't released yet, so, so far as beth is concerned, it open season to do whatever they want, whenever they want. Of course, once the CK is release, we may discover that making meshes work in the new system is as simply as checking a box in the ck. (here's hoping, eh?)

I don’t know, I think is wrong to ask Bethesda to work with modders as long the CK is not out. This says rather we still not in a phase which we can support modding content, and we want to make sure that the base game without mods is stable enough in the future so that modder can have fun with it. As example they fixed the FormID bug, which only brings benefits for modders and players.

Patches typically break mods.

In other news, water is wet.

Yes, that's modding 101. You patch the game and when the devs put out a patch there's a good chance your game won't run properly if at all. That's why we are not only careful when we mod but just as importantly we protect our game from updates so we can proceed/update when we are ready.

I understand what everyone is saying, I just meant I feel for the modders who put in so much work.
I feel .......that's all.
I have covid, so I'm now going to get some vitamin C, as in chocolate.
Enjoy you day.

Anyone with any experience modding BGS games knows that updates, especially early big ones always break things... This is 100% nothing new and should be expected... Its only when the Creation Kit is out and Shattered Space is out and more updates have come out that will we really be able to lock down mods and a modded version of SF...

Honestly if people are going to complain about broken mods at the moment they best just chill out and wait another 6 months or so at least before really getting into it, as this will keep happening for at least until Shattered Space comes out... :cozybethesda:
