You can have 3 engines at 4 power each.
You can have 4 engines at 3 power each.
You can have 6 engines at 2 power each.
You need to work out the Thrust & Speed x3/x4/x6 for a total value and then compare.
I'm sure there is a website you can google though with full breakdowns on Ship components, if you want to avoid number juggling.

Thanks for the info! I'm trying to make the fastest ship in the galaxy. Gotta beat the Kessel Run in 5 parsecs or less!

4 of the engine used there.
But what's the fastest SPEED a ship can go? I wanna go FAST. Sticking to a class A with beefy engines.
A class being fastest, C slowest, and then one particular A class engine being slightly above other A class, to technically there's 4 speeds. With your skills and some crew mates you can improve it a bit. Fastest engines are white dwarf 3015 with nominal speed of 180.
You were talking about manuvering trust, that determines how fast your ship turns.
Not sure how maneuvering speed works. But Now I know what kind of speed cap I need to break meet. Thank you.

These engines are not suitable for having much cargo space. Mixing in other engines puts your top speed at the slowest engine's speed.
AMAZING INFORMATION. My ship will SOAR through the cosmos.

Some things to also keep in mind:
-The longest grav jump chain possible requires 445 fuel which can be cut in half with the right perk, either way one or two of the 250 fuel tanks fits that limit nicely.
-You really only need 1 of the smallest shielded cargo holds to smuggle anything you want, more just wastes mass and/or cargo space
So what you're saying is: Drop weight. Make my weight as small as possible, amp up my engines, and just F U L L T H R O T T L E its from there?

That is every crafting station and each on the same plane as the bridge, direct access from the landing bay to the bridge, 4 beds, 8 passenger slots, 500 fuel tank, max crew, max range, max maneuverability, 180 top speed, close to as optimized on stats as I can do - I cheat to have infinite inventory space but still (mostly) maximized cargo space with available free mass.
