Weapon Damage Bug
Are you all still experiencing this one? I read through the last patch log twice: once when it was in BETA, and once it was official. It was so extensive, I can't remember half of it. Doesn't matter, though, as it's still there.

Damage output fluctuates, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. If there is, I haven't figured out why. I never even noticed it until yesterday. About 125 hours played so far.

After doing some research, it seems that it's been there since launch, but I never noticed it at launch. Never had a reason to pay attention to it really. I have the Ballistics perk maxed out. Wonder if that could be it.

Seems like I read something about Ballistics bugging out. No telling.

I experimented with stuff like Frostwolf and other "damage buff" meds, by setting their magnitude to the tens of thousands - instead of one shotting enemies, the chems had 0.00% damage increasing effect. This was reported on the discord, and ignored, as they always do, unless it is photo mode.

Without chems or perks on the weapons, I still experience it. For example, I have a breach that originally had 338 raw DMG. It's fluctuated between that, 315, and 322. Currently sitting at 321. It does utilize the slugs mod. Maybe that's got something to do with it. I bought it from a vendor. Haven't unlocked the perks yet for the weapon workshop mods.

On the other hand, now I think of it, I used an Elemental Coachman for a long time, and its DMG never changed. Not that I remember, anyway. If it did, I didn't notice.

Do you also sometimes see a weapon change its damage when you equip it?

I sometimes have a weapon and equip it, and it suddenly jumps up 30-100 points in damage, without any obvious cause.

Sure do. Except my DMG decreases, increases, and decreases again. It's never gone back to its original output though.

I thought the damage depended on the enemy stat's as well as the level of the system and maybe a couple other things. As these change from target to target you should get different damage.

It happens when I'm standing still with no enemies around and on the same planet. Also changes when I store it in a container like The Lodge safe, or my ship.

With my Breach, its DMG was 338 when I bought it. When I went to drop off some other weapons at The Lodge, I noticed that it changed when I was storing other weapons. But it's random, too. It just happens whenever, haha.

I can't imagine what System levels and enemy stats would have to do with it.

I can confirm this. I thought it was some sort of perk I had, but it's doing it randomly, and not for all weapons, and sometimes I can have 2 identical weapons, and one gets buffed or debuffed, and the other doesn't.

Really whacky.

Well I could see a difference with it equipped or in storage. In storage I doubt your skills would effect it. But equipped I think it would change. I've never gave it much attention but did notice that some screens show different damage numbers. Especially weapons with two types of damage.

With Ballistics maxed out, it shouldn't decrease. But regardless, the output should be set no matter the circumstance. It should be what it is, ya know?

Definitely whacky.

I think it might have something to do with perks bugged out, like the ships' shield bug. I couldn't know.

Thought I'd bump this just once to see if there's anyone else dealing with it. If not, all good. I'll deal with it, and hope there might be a patch down the road. Beers. Destination Mars.
