clear stolen tag from keys?

Any way to remove the stolen tag from keys? None of the traders seem to buy keys.

I think keys might be one of the items that when you drop them then pick them up the stolen tag is removed. I'm not sure about keys but I know some items the drop/pickup method works.

or maybe give it to a companion then take it back.

Just tried but can't drop it and doesn't show in inv when trying to trade with companion. Looks like it is considered a quest item even though I have already finished the quest it was used in. I doubt it hads a use in another. It does have a value though.

You can't drop or transfer keys. I haven't tried this but one idea may be to get arrested for stealing that key or some other trivial item and surrender to the guards. If I recall correctly, they will confiscate all stolen items. I don't know if that includes keys.

Well it struck me as odd that this one has a value on it, unlike other quest keys. Must be a bug.
