Can someone explain "NASA punk" art style?
I see a little NASA, but I don't see the fusion of punk? What is this art style suppose to look like? Can someone explain in more detail please?

I asked myself the same question and the best explanation I found so far comes from SarahLinMGN here:

For Starfield it looks like non sense Junk.

Starfiled is no way globally punk lol. Eventually a few elements will evoke it as some cloths/hairs of anonymous NPC, or some juggle between punk and heavy metal, but no way Starfiled is Punk style, just a few times.

It's Bethesda’s self-dubbed NASA-punk aesthetic. I think what they meant was it's retro-futuristic? Therefore, meaningless in any descriptive form. It can be whatever you want it to be, as long as it doesn't look too futuristic, like Steampunk is not too futuristic. Confused? Welcome to the art critics world.:steamhappy:

I think that pretty much covers it. Punk is the 'Edge'

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, "steampunk" is "science fiction dealing with 19th-century [1800's] societies dominated by historical or imagined steam-powered technology." Thus, the "steam-" in "steampunk" refers to the steam-powered technology that heavily influenced the Victorian era, and the "-punk" refers to the unconventional edge that the sci-fi genre brings into the setting.

Yes but also the Steampunk proclaimed new sci fi genre was also a reference to Cyberpunk already famed sci fi genre claiming its origin from some older Japanese manga that never bother use a tag genre.

In my opinion the punk in Steampunk mainly refers to Cyberpunk and not punk in the way that Cyberpunk refers it.

Sorry guys. I read the articles and hear what you are saying but I don't see anything but generic sci-fi. That doesn't mean it isn't there. It just means I can't see it.

It's not generic it's just sci fi in relatively close future, and probably not much sense of anticipation.

You couldn't get more generic. I mean nothing sticks out. Everything I see in the game I have seen before multiple times.

OK, consider ‘anypunk’. It’s really just a way of allowing advanced technology to coexist with social and economic disparities in a narrative. (Just think the sleep cubes in Neon, or the Well in New Atlantis). If it involves rebels challenging corporate overlords or street gangs, it’s ‘anypunk’

No because I haven't seen multiple times many elements:
- NA town.
- Neon town
- Such Galactic civ.
- Those farms with robots.
- Such Unity Jump mixing multiverse and time loop.
- Enhance tech
- Many more including ton of elements not explained no sci fi would use like that. Yes, because the game hadn't good sci fi writers or QA.

No that's not generic, just general sci fi in relative close future, it's sci fi, it's not generic sci fi.

You'd have to dig up the old Emil interview where he coined the phrase NASApunk.

It seems to be just a description because the art doesn't stray from established genres. Besides, saying contemporary is boring. Adding punk makes it sound exciting.
