High and aft bridge ships
This was my ship in NG10

The one I'm using now:

Both based on UC Vista 3. Anyone else prefer the high bridges in the back for their custom ships?

I dislike having the bridge aft. Probably because I dislike the cockpits that have an access hatch in the floor.

My NG11 ship has a hatch in the back, but that means the bridge can't be all the way in the back of the ship since I need a passageway hab there instead. I still like the look of it.

I liked making ships that looked aggressive and claw-shaped, which put the cockpit near the back most of the time. (This was before I learned about the center-of-area exploit, and I thought I was just all that good. I doubt I'm as good as I thought I was now that they changed that.)

I wasn't a fan of placing them up high. I wanted to load into the ship and walk to the cockpit without climbing ladders.

I'm still waiting for Bethesda to give us a way to place ladders and doors ourselves for this very reason.

I added a rear facing turret for kicks and giggles:

My first time trying that.

I was disappointed this didn't happen with the empty habs. There is a mod for it, though, if you mod.

How high we talking?
I consider 3 levels up to be high. Great ships, btw!

Erm, how did you manage to get your ship in the water?? :)

I managed to "clip" the Landing pad into the floor, which allowed me to place it there.
Im unsure how to replicate it 100%, but sometimes habs will leave a "concrete base" behind, and it's that that allows this;

Back to the ship pic;
Below the camera is actually an island (where im standing, and my habs + beacon are) so the stairs to the landing pad are very close to the shore, even if it doesn't look like it.
It took a long time to get it to that point....
Ah, you cheated. :D Nice trick.
