The Administrative Office is bugging out a little. I can't seem to get any light to shine in the office like the other rooms. And placing items in the room, like the employee desk, tends to pop outside or under the map. (Dang. One of my storage bins also fell under the map. I'm always looking for some resources that I know I have but can't find. I bet they're in that bin.

I'd like to experiment with scanning and drones, similar to Subnautica. Use the drone via remote control to survey an area, and drop a beacon when you find a sweet spot.
Excellent thread as well. Maybe you'll make a Steam Guide. I know I'd love to see your notes in guide form.
But I do want to put together some kind of a useful guide for folks. It's tough to do here at the beginning because I get distracted having fun. I'm using this thread to amass some thoughts and ideas, and put them through the ringer of public scrutiny. For the general reader, feedback and constructive criticisms are most welcome.
And yes more data is needed if you are at Rank 3 which makes it all the more amazing what you are doing, so much so that I'd say you are qualified to make a guide after more research. That's my vote anyway.
Was playing around in the Charybdis System the last few days. Charybdis III is the home of the Crucible folks and the Starseed Quest. I burned a couple of hours knocking that out. It was interesting. I sided with the American President and successfully persuaded the Kushite Queen to help. The Mongolian wasn't happy about that.

But then I surveyed Charybdis II, and knew afterward that I needed to build an industrial farm here. Why? Because 7 of the 11 fauna and 7 of the 8 flora are outpost productive. That's 14 organic harvesting nodes. Granted, 4 of them are duplicates, so technically, you can only harvest 10 unique organics. That's more than I've ever seen in a single outpost. And 2 of them I have as supply link jobs on hold. Nice. Very nice, indeed.
Now, the inorganic resources aren't that great, which is standard fare for bio planets. I definitely don't need anymore Chlorine or Argon or Chlorosilanes. But I did manage to combine a couple of inorganics that will allow me to shut down two other outposts. Granted, they're He3 support outposts. One was He3-Al-Be-Nd, and the other was He3-Al-Be-Eu. They're not needed, and I only kept them for the Eu and Nd. This outpost mines a simple combination of Al-Be-Eu-Nd.

I did have to separate the pack vultures from the pack silverfish. They were side by side, but both became extremely aggressive and started spitting projectiles at each other.
"Now now, children! Time to behave!"
(That Silverfish is very unique compared to the common ones. Man, I so want to Arkify this game.)

I have one complaint. When I created this outpost, it gave me a full circle with access to a full plot of Neodymium. I put in some assets, such as an extracter and a storage bin, and went back to Newton II for resupply. Ran out of Iron and adaptive frames super quick.
When I got back, it had shaved off almost a third of the outpost, rendering it as restrictive. There's a small crater to the top right with some fossils in it. It's not an official POI with a map icon, but for some reason, it's treating it as one and restricting me from building in the full circle. It deleted my assets I had already built too. I now only have a sliver of Neodymium for one extractor.
What the blue blazes?
Anyway, shouldn't be too much of a problem. I still have enough room to put in the barns and greenhouses that I want to start production of organics. But dang.
Also worth noting, fauna here are a little on the aggressive side. Silverfish are territorial. So instead of production robots, put in two robot dogs and a security bot.
Expanded a little on the commercial farm at Volii Epsilon, but not much more. Keeping it small to dismantle later at the right opportunity. As of now, it's serving me well collecting lubricant and ionic liquids.

Charybdis II, however, will be a permanent operation. So I'll be expanding it to the fullest possible. Security-wise, I thought I'd have a hard time with pack silverfish or pack vultures or even those aggressive pack eggtails that hide underground.
But no. It's the dang mothwings. They swarm in large numbers, take down my vultures and silverfish, destroy my turrets and security robots, and chase me into buildings with a sliver of health. They're super dodgy and slap hard and swarm like mad hornets.
I have my vultures and silverfish separated, because they don't get along. But I might try placing some more farmhouses to add to the vulture/silverfish populations, and arrange them so they hang together. If 3 silverfish can't survive against a single moth, maybe 6 or even 9 can.
Had an all out war last night. I ended up following my security robots from barn to barn taking down waves of the flying furballs. Reminded me of my FO4 caravaneer days following Cricket in the Alt Life and Random Encounters mods.
It was myself, Marika, Lyle Brewer, Ezekiel, six Rank 3 turrets, three security robots, three pack vultures and three pack silverfish against...moths. Not those cute little fellas on Beta Marae I that come up to you wide-eyed and chirping, "Pet me, please!" Nope. These have fangs and tiger roars and suicidal divebombs. (It was glorious fun, though!)
Seriously though, I have little doubt that a guide from you would be appreciated by the community.
What are those 3 triangle like grey structures, that look like "houses" around the outside of the outpost? one of the extreme left of the shot, and 2 in the background?
I haven't seen anything like that before...
