RPG Codex GOTY 2023 results: Starfield is at very bottom

Damn, looks like very few people even cared to vote for it there.

im not surprised, the game is pretty much already forgotten about.

It doesn't seem many really cared to vote as the total votes are only 430 people. Not really a popular website to draw any conclusions about the gaming public. So, not really sure what the point is. Seems pretty niche to me.

My friend, could you use a more laughable frame of reference for your post ?

Pick a site that isn’t hosted on someone’s rig in their basement and wasn’t designed as a school project and forgotten .

12 million sold. Less than 100k Steam reviews. 400 there. Very few people vote or review. I'm only here for the circus.

12 million player, not copies sold

The vast majority of them are Game Pass enjoyers, they just try it for a very cheap price. If you use Trial trick, you only have to spend one dollar per month.

Between people that think the game is trash, and people who like the game but know it's not in any way an RPG, who's left to vote for it?

Good to see The Colony Ship in the top 3. It's not like it's very surprising to see it being liked on RPGCodex, but it deserves recognition anyway.

This is the first time I've ever even heard of RPG Codex.

Dunno where you been. RPG Codex has been around over two decades.

It's a pretty popular (if a bit infamous) forum that has been around since forever. Also a lot of devs post or have posted there. It's pretty much impossible not to be aware of that site if you've been into Western RPGs for any significant amount of time.

Hell, back when I hung out there bashing Oblivion was all the rage. I'd be shocked if they didn't hate Starfield.

It's a site focused mostly on cRPGs, preferably classic-style numbers-heavy, writing-driven ones.
Baldurs Gate, The Colony Ship, Wasteland is what flies there.

No surprise Bethesda looters with some RPG elements aren't liked there. Wrong genre to begin with.

BTW, they also weren't crazy about The Outer Worlds.

That was also a ♥♥♥♥♥ game. This checks out.

About half way through The Outer Worlds story I've went triggerhappy on randomly everything, picking the dialogue lines only for the lulz of it. Same thing happened with the Starfield.
In both games writers didn't care so why should I?

Funny how turning both games into unofficial Postal 2+ improved everything. Definitely not what the developers intended, though.
