Is "Power From Beyond/Acquire the Power on SkinK" glitched? (Minor spoilers)
Unlike pretty much every other quest I've been given, there's no quest destination map marker. [Particularly the one that _should_ be on Skink. (Cheyenne System)] When I get to Skink, I _do_ get the "Follow the scanner distortions" message, but I get that message EVERYWHERE on the planet. I really need to narrow down the final destination somehow. Just going after "Unknowns" isn't practical, because the planet has score of those. (And I suspect that NONE of them are the actual quest destination.)

Any suggestions?

The never is a marker until you get close to the poi...

You go the direction in which the distortions in the scanner are highest. The distortion get worse as you get closer to the poi. It will eventually show a marker.

I know the mechanics. But there is almost always a marker on the planet not all that far from where the final destination is. At the moment, there isn't a quest marker _anywhere_ on the planet. (And, yes, I _do_ have the "Acquire the power on Skink" quest selected.)
That's the glitch I'm looking at.

Correct there is no quest marker... It is not the only temple with this. It depends on your scan rating and the distance to the final temple poi. It is set up to follow the distortions.

Oh, wait... you don't have a Scanner Anomaly landing zone on the planet, right?

Is the planet surveyed yet?

TK is correct, it’s not a glitch. The marker appears when you get within 250m of the temple.

Go on top of your ship and scan the horizon for a tall structure. That’s the direction of the strongest scanner signal.

Buuuuttt, it's a large-ish planet. Like if you landed in Kansas, no matter how high up you get, you are NOT going to see something on the horizon if it's in Florida.

I got diverted to a companion quest in the meantime. But I will try the get up on top of the ship approach next time I get back to Skink.

Ok if you don’t at least have the temple POI that can be seen from orbit of skink, then it’s a bug. Sorry I misunderstood the issue.

You cannot explore every planet ~ unlike "it just works" claims you can.
If you land on a given planet, before the temple is unlocked it will spawn a random tile.
Later when the temple is unlocked; its unable to spawn, being blocked by the other tile.
The only way to fix this is NG+

NG + 6 and all powers showing base level again, had Supernova 5. After last temple just supernova.

I think this is what may have happened. I had been to the planet before, chasing a bounty. I think it may have spawned where the temple was supposed to be.

Usually the games pretty good keeping you off premature temple locations; mission wise.
But I cant put it past them to mess even that up.

You'll know if you have a blocked temple, there will still be those smaller structures.
spread around but more of them than normal; instead of 3 you will see like 9

This quest really has become impossible. Skink has only three landing sites to start from. I don't know if those sites are hard-scripted , or randomized every game. In my current game, the three are a Deserted Relay Station, Industrial outpost, and a Mining outpost. I happened to have a Bounty mission send me to the Deserted Relay Station (which may be what bollixed the Power quest. I have landed at all three sites and walked and outward spiral around the ship for several loops without getting a twinge of distortion on the scanner.

If a temple is NOT located near one of a planet's plotted Points of Interest, then than leaves only walking the entire planet hoping to spot a really, really tall dilapidated tower somewhere near the path being trod.

Not cool. Sadistic design even.

So I hope I'm looking at an actual bug that WILL be fixed.... eventually. (As opposed to a deliberate design element.)

I had the problem with Skink in my original game. It was still not fixed when they did the patch that fixed the "power from beyond" bug(but apparently only for an NG+.)

In my first NG+, I did hardly any exploring on my own and BEELINED for doing the Constellation quests, killing the Emissary and Hunter, and getting all the artifacts. While doing that, I kept talking to Vlad and getting the next "power from beyond" quest.

I was scared when I got "Power from Beyond Skink", but this time it worked.

There were 3 powers I could not get in my original game, but this time I have all the powers and I think all but those 3 are at "II."

Before jumping to NG+, for the first time, I could also get Barret's power FINALLY in that OG; so at least I got that.

I was also VERY careful to never go to Skink before getting the "power from beyond" quest in my NG+

After doing one NG+ game, I decided that my objective would be that I wouldn't allow ANYONE, myself included, to access the Unity. I have most of the Armillary on my ship, so NO ONE is going to get a complete set as long as I'm alive.

The Hunter is actually right about the Emissary: she's a hypocrite. If she really was serious about "keeping the Armillary out of the wrong hands," she shouldn't be using it to build up her own power. Pick a universe and camp out, making sure no one can access that one.... for the rest of her life. If <^that was what she was actually doing, I would have sided with her.
