How do you store resources?
When crafting, it is an advantage if the resources are in the inventory for quick access. The problem is that the inventory of the ship and the player are limited.

In the lodge, for example, there are some storage containers around the workbenches that can be filled indefinitely. But the problem is that the workbenches cannot access these storage containers.

I would be interested to know how you manage your resources, also with regard to crafting? Maybe I'm not seeing something.

I just got a ship with a large cargo space. The Kepler R has a ton of it. 👍

When you're on an outpost all the resources in storage containers are accessible from any crafting bench.

Are you sure about that? The only container directly linked to a workbench at the outpost is the cargo transfer device. I have dozens of storage containers in my outpost and none of them connect directly to a workbench. You have to go to the container and take everything you need out of it to use it. Same at the Lodge. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes im 100% sure. You dont have to connect the workbench to anything. You can just use a workbench on the outpost and you will have access to the resources in the storage containers (those under the "storage" tab on the UI) on that outpost. If you're close to your ship you will be able to access all resources from your cargo hold too.

Im not sure how that works at the lodge, i never store anything there. Outposts are much better for resources since they produce them automatically and you can import resources from other outposts with cargo links too.

So... not sure if you're okay with using console, ( baka mod saves you from achivement loss ) but if you actually summon in the GREY long storage units? They are FILLABLE/ unlimited from what I can tell. Now yes, you cannot link them BUT. I keep 3 on my landing pad for overflow. I can dump other gear in them too for later retrieval. I've had them for a month+ in game now. Weeks of playing, etc. They have not dissapeared. They WILL go away if you place them outside of the outposts boundaries though! As will any objects. ( I tested some outside my outpost and anything dissapears after a long period ) adding: You can summon tons of cool stuff. Had a console/ outpost for months now. Pop machine, robot parts, piping, landing pad with stuff on it. Stable, no issues. :3 Console is great. Just make backup saves. Got a chasmbass fish hanging from my celing draining for Aurora production... you can add so much stuff. I can setscale too so I have micro succulents, huge ones, etc etc. makes decorating way more viable.

Way back when.. I used the Lodge "store-it all" and when it was time to modify or research, I simply "took all". I mean that little storage box on the table is what, three steps to any machine. The pain was transporting it all there to begin with. Fortunately I was on NG+ so I could use Personal Atmosphere and "hoof" it.

Now, I do all my research/alterations at my outpost or my ship.

Ah. Ok. I created a bunch of storage crates inside my hab but I guess those don't connect because they are decorative. I will add some more big storage boxes and give it a try. Thanks.

You'll need to advance one of the Outpost Research items in order to build a "Warehouse contianer" which holds anything that can be fabricated like ISO Magnets and Adaptive Frames.

PS Get ready to make a crap ton of them given their measly 150 capacity..... OR use "modav carryweight xxxxx" on the container

Thank you very much for all the information. I already realise that the console input will be my best friend in Starfield. Bravo Bethesda...

Well again, You can load everything from the ship into your suit inventory. There is no limit except travel restrictions. Then while in your ship, select fast travel to the lodge. Walk inside and to the basement and craft away. When done store the inventory in the storage box on the table which is unlimited.

Don't need large ship cargo, outposts, storage containers, none of it.

Next visit repeat the process and get all items out of the storage box as well. Craft away...
