No, you first. Tell us what YOU think. Then I'll discuss it, or not.
At least for those who seriously don't like the game, take into account many on this sub are just trolls or farmers of clowns.
I personally judge a game based on what I expect from it. Like @Pookie101, I grow up playing the Atari.
In my old age all I want from a game is a good story, and some fun.
But games have changed since the old days, and as you grow older and experience more things you become rightfully or not more judgemental about what you like. Kinda like Nitpicky.
I noticed some people will let things slide for X corp, yet give a lashing to Y corp even though it isn't even their favorite, and they could just let it go.
But obsessing over it (Or trolling) is fun nowadays.
I judge Starfield on 2 things:
1- It is a Bethesda game. They are not known for Stellar writing, so I didn't expect a story that would leave me wanting more.
2- All their games are crashy in my experience. So that was the one thing I was hoping for: They make 1 game that crashes less for me.
The worst game I have played from Bethesda? That would be Morrowind followed by Skyrim. Morrowind was so brown. So muddy, everything was so brown. Kind of depressing. And adding Mods to it didn't make it any better.
Skyrim on the other hand, no matter how many mods I added it just was a boring game that lacked any depth.
I enjoyed Oblivion thought.
There aren't many games in this genre out there. There is of course Mass Effect Trilogy which is an RPG and is different than Starfield.
I think for Bethesda Starfield would be the midpoint. It has no tie to either the Fallout Serie or the Elder Scroll Serie. It is brand new but made by the same creator.
So you can see what they are good at and what they are bad at easily if you played their previous games.
They are good at giving the players a Sandbox-like game with an Average story, and good gameplay (Dunno but I like the gameplay in Starfield better), and as usual the bad is that it's overpriced, and many things that should be part of the core of the game will be left to the modders to add later on. (Unless they keep their words and add things as they claim).
Oblivion was my favorite from the Elder Scroll series and Fallout 4 from the Fallout Serie.
Starfield is new, and only time will tell if it will become a series of its own or a one-time thing.
Every generation has their horrible games that define the era, starting with E.T. the Extra Terrestrial which was a horrible game that was released and bombed in 1982 and then literally filled up an entire landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico with unsold copies.
At least StarFail can be considered a more environmentally conscious bomb than E.T. because it doesn't have physical copies littering the world.
It may take some time to tell, but Starcrash looks to be gearing up to define this entire decade if not longer as being the all time failure of a generation of video games.
Every day on these forums there are approximately 20-40 people who come by throughout the day to announce that the game is full of bugs, crashes, and doesn't work for them and they are uninstalling it. The average number of players over the last 30 days is only hovering at around 5000 right now so if this keeps up soon they will be updating this game for only a few poor souls who grind this mediocre game to great lengths such as NG 20+ in order to try to gruelingly choke the money they wasted out of an awful product.
Starbug is one of the worst reviewed, most refunded AAA games of the recent 20 years.
So to answer the OP's question directly, StarFlunk is the exact definition and answer to your question "What is a bad game?"
What's "good", and what's "bad" is entirely subjective..
I can tell you that the worst game i've ever played is "Hidden Invasion" (PS2).....i believe that game is one of the exceptions to the rule of good and bad being subjective, because it sold very poorly, NOBODY gave the game a positive review, and nobody i know, or have talked to online has ever expressed anything but disdain for the title.....it truly is a bad game.
As to the best?.....well, i can't rightly crown ANY game "the best". I can tell you what i like, what i love, and what i adore... but that wouldn't mean anything to you, because they're subjective assessments, based on my personal taste.
Lemme slide a few examples your way...
For instance..i absolutely adore the game "stray"....I think it is entirely perfect as it is. Yet, if you don't like cats, you might not like the game.....there are threads on that game's steam discussion board, that are absolute dumpster fires, because you have people demanding that ANY challenge be removed from the game, and just make it a boring walking simulator, that requires no skill to complete...
I love the Metal Gear series....but maybe you don't... maybe you think the storyline is too confusing, or the gameplay is too challenging, or perhaps you're just not into that sort of game...
I like (really like) Starfield... I like the story, the gameplay, the music, the world....i think it's all very nice, and i'm enjoying my time with the game.. For whatever reason, there are people who dislike it, and think it's a bad game. And that's fine. people are free to like and dislike whatever they choose. Their opinion doesn't dictate objective reality.
"Good" and "bad" are subjective...they are personal assessments, based on the individual player's personality, tastes, and preferences.
Whether a game is good or bad is mostly subjective.
The good or bad label is usually applied after a time when the mass of players have had the chance to experience the product and have listed all their positives and negatives about it. Then the online ratings will be adjusted and the game's score will be calculated.
There are no males in this game therefore why would a ♥♥♥♥ slider even be considered? The spacesuits are supposed to come with tuck flaps and gaffers tape pre-installed so it wouldn't ever be shown anyways.
So, how long, exactly did you play this game?
I'm suspecting that is the case.
But lets see what he says.
It definitely will change my approach to him.
