Lighting issue
I've searched online but can't find this exact issue. The lighting of the game is perfect both inside and outside of buildings/structures/caves everything looks fine until I go into a doorway where the game will suddenly turn super dark before going back to being light, this only happens when looking outside, inside is fine. I played this game tons when it first came out but put it aside to play other games and I do not remember this happening at all then. I have upgraded my cpu since then and I found all my settings reset.

Does anyone know what setting is causing this or if its not a setting a fix for this weird issue?

Standing outside,

backed up a few feet into the doorway.

That is probably a light adaptation effect (which is also present in other games). It mimics the effect on the human eye of being in darkness, where the pupil widens to let more light in, thus making dark areas brighter, and when indoors in a lighted area, the pupil contracts - so if you look outside where it darker, the exterior will appear darker. The reverse is also seen, when standing in a dark area looking at a lit interior, the lit interior will appear much brighter.

When moving from light to dark or vice versa in games that have this, you can see the adaptation take place - it usually takes about a second or so.

I know the effect you're talking about but here it's way to exaggerated. It's making firing out of buildings impossible unless I'm standing far back from the doorway. This is even happening on bright daylight planets.

I played his a ton when it first released but I have no memory of this effect being this bad. I've tried messing with all the settings I can think of but so far nothing is fixing it.

The only thing I can think of right now, is to test by adjusting the lighting effects in the game and see if that has any effect (if you haven't already tried that).

I do know that at times I see some extreme differences in lighting from dark to light and the reverse, but it passes after a few seconds.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with some ideas.

Good luck!

If anyone finds a way to turn this off, let me know. It's something I've found grating in each of their games I find it breaks immersion rather than adding to it. Imo, if it was implemented in a good way, it wouldn't be noticable
