How do I update the game (tlatest Patch) with Vortex managing game/mods?

Sorry for my ignorance but can i just into steam and update to latest version? will this F-up my vortex ability to manage mods?
Ignore any mods that might break (not updated), my question is purely about the proper procedure to update the game when its manged by vortex.

You just update it through Steam like you normally would. But beware that updates usually temporarily break mods, particularly script extender mods.

It won't harm Vortex. Vortex itself will update to match the game version. Then you can use Vortex to search for updated mods and download them. Mods which aren't updated will either work (most of them) or not. All of the major foundation mods like Starfield Script Extender (SFSE), and the Address Library, have been updated.

For the mods which don't have updates, after checking with Vortex, I recommend visiting the Nexus page for each of them and looking at the Posts section on the mod page. See if anyone has posted that it is or isn't working with the new update. If one is noted as not working, disable it in Vortex.

If you run the game and it crashes or it isn't working as usual, one or more of the un-updated is responsible.

For mods with no indication of whether or not they work, you'll just have to test them out in the game.

As others have said Vortex and your existing modded load orders will be fine, mine always have been in the past through each and every update to Vortex.

But if your load order has issues then that's of course a horse of a different color.
