Oblivion or Starfield

Which is better? I never played Oblivion so I was thinking about installing it. But I don't know if it's worth dropping my Starfield playthrough for it. I don't get a ton of time to play, so have to prioritize one game over the others.

Oblivion is a good game. Its worth a go. Maybe get some graphical mods and a mod to change how you level up .

Oblivion was my first bgs game and i think it aged poorly.

Lvl scaling in particular is an aberration. If you're not careful lvling up will most likely be a straight downgrade for your character.

Will most likely require a lot of mods to be even bearable.

Oblivion. It's older, and obviously the graphics aren't as good. But the story is 100 times better. Shivering Isles is one of my favourite DLC's in a BGS game. The characters are just more fun, it's not a watered down 'safe' universe like SF. I'll admit to being nostalgic for Oblivion too.
Having said that, Oblivion is not the best TES game ever (Morrowind). If you prefer spaceships to horses then clearly, stick with SF.

the combat was a step down from morrowind also be aware there is a 256 stack glitch mostly involving plugins loaded that will quickly corrupt your save files (can only handle 128 plugins)
it has the best music of any elder scrolls game though

Keep in mind, modding Oblivion is a nightmare.

But they really aren't similar games. Oblivion has some good memorables Quest to it.

I also think its aged well in comparaison to Skyrim who need mods to look good nowadays Lol.

if you want engaging story then go Oblivion. If you want Sandbox and space pew pew (which is also fun), Starfield. You could always play oblivion till they release the next update.

All things considered, Oblivion is the better game. Much more engaging both storywise and characterwise. It also had some very good DLC (excluding horse armour of course).

Oblivion is a special game. It's a good blend of classic Bethesda before they simplified a lot of mechanics (spell crafting, enchanting, radiant AI etc...) but has a lot better QOL than something like Morrowind.

I ran well over 200 mods on Oblivion, including FCOM, and never had issues with it. This is the first I have heard of that particular problem......
