but yeah any use of the console disables achievemnts
Not all commands do, but I don't know if anyone has a reliable list.
If the achievements are of interest either complete them vanilla first, or alternatively use something like the following mod *before* being tempted to use console. It requires no other supporting files, it's simply a DLL dropped into the Starfield application folder, just drop it in and forget it:
Starfield Achievement Enabler https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1402
That depends on you. If you want the achievements then I'd say yes do a play through to get them. If you cheap out and use console and a mod to enable you really don't get the true achievement.
But that's your choice. I got the achievements but just because I desired to do it. I've never used console or mods, but again that's just my choice.
The main takeaway is it's a game and it's meant to entertain and be enjoyed. However you do that is your choice.
My first brush with the console in Starfield happened when I landed on a planet, I saw some very large objects bouncing around the landscape of a 0.1g moon, so, being the inquisitive type, I boosted up, took a loot, spotted some crashed ship parts, and landed on one. It was a bit of fun, until I landed on the moon surface and then one of the ship parts landed on me - I couldn't get out. TCL got me through the object.
I played the game for over 400 hours and not once did I need to use the console command to fix anything. There is always a workaround for any bugs without using the console command. I am of the belief it is a lazy resort that even messes up the game when it could have been resolved without resorting to it. Also, I doubt someone asking about using console commands from the get-go, really encountered anything yet.
I view this "alteration" as a convenience rather than a cheat, you may view it as a cheat. I place a small storage chest in the cockpit of my ship. I then use a console cmd to increase its capacity to 5,000. That suits my "horde everything like a mf'er" play style perfectly.
