Empty Nest is a stupid quest
Immediately I knew where the artifact already was. So I didn't want to deal with the bank robbers or get the map. But the door to the artifact is inaccessible, so I have to go in there and slaughter all the bank robbers. and then I have to take out Coe's dad just to get the map. But Sam gets all whiny with me when I do that so I have to persuade the guy to give me the map. finally he gives me the map and then I am forced to deal with Shaw gang. I don't want to play with these guys. I just want to get off Akila as fast as possible and add the artifact to my collection. at least the game allows me to do that.

What an awful quest.

Maybe you'd enjoy the quests more if you didn't watch an influencer play through it beforehand.

Wow, I never knew you could kill the father. I've always heard that these quests only have one option that lets you proceed. Guess that was wrong.

While I don't agree with the OP, You don't need any for knowledge to immediately guess where it is. The game clearly telegraphs it from the start.

I really like when someone says they "have to" do it a certain way when the reality is they have several options. If you have the skills you can talk your way through about every aspect of this quest without shooting anyone but the Ashta at the end.

Just shows they rush through the game and don't bother experiencing the game.

RPGs loose something once you know whats going on beforehand. This is not specific to Starfield or the Empty Nest.

How exactly does it telegraph it beforehand? You have to clear the bank before Sam even mentions the empty nest. Either you are psychic, or you watched somebody else do it beforehand.

Or you did it before.

Okay I get it.

In that case sequence breaking requires extra writing, its easier add in a locked door to close off possibilities than write new dialogue trees for every creative possibility a player can come up with

There are other locations that have this mechanism. One is the Stroud Asteroid mine in the Ranger quest. I'm sure there are others but can't think of them right now.

Honestly OP, why are you playing a game that's clearly way too complicated for you. I suggest sticking to Solitaire.

almost all of them are in this game. If I can't go to sleep, I play an hour of Starfield, and then I am out.

“I know where the cookie is kept but I don’t want to work to get the cookie. I just want the cookie. I deserve that cookie! But the stupid game keeps the cookie jar locked tight. What an awful quest, I am literally forced to play the game while I just want a cookie.”

Who made you slaughter all of the bank robbers? I only did that on my first attempt. Since then, in every NG+ since, I know to down a dose of paramour before talking to them. I was never "forced" to kill them.
