Iridium fields?

I just started base building. Are there any "fields" of Iridium or only those small rocks?

There should be, you'd need to scan from space to see which resources are on planet in fields.

If the planet or moon has Iridium it will also have those fields but you might not be in a spot where they exist or they might be super rare. To find them you have to land in a spot on that planet or moon where Iridium is common. Unfortunately you need to invest in the scanning skill to be able to see deposits of higher tier minerals from orbit.

Why mine when you can buy any ore for 10 a pop in Jemison? This has got to be the dumbest game ever made.

I need 390x Iridium. The vendor at Jemison sells me about 24. Then I have to "wait" again 48 hours...

It's in the blue science skilltree. Second skill from the left in the second row from the top.
