Wonky Bionics Lab
I found an abandoned Bionics Lab on Erdani II that had a problem. The landing pad was too close to the main building complex. So close that my ships cockpit was blocking the one an only entrance door to the complex and resting partially in the complex. FYI It need to be fixed!

without a screenshot? - not helpful...

Something like this could happen only if the game was modded to allow to exceed maximum length and width allowed in the shipbuilder. Which is why those limits are there in the first place. Because no game designer can account for everything players can possibly mod in.

I have some large ships in maximum possible vanilla ship sizes and it never happened because landing pads in POIs are even larger than the largest landing pad than can be built in outposts.

Modding anything is done at the player own responsibility.
that's why i wanted a screenshot :)

My big ship has been close to blocking doors, but I also stay within the vanilla limits. In your situation you could switch to the Frontier and go back to the Bionics lab.

No mods and sorry but no screen shot! Something I have been meaning to learn but never got a round to it.

You can get into the lab a different way. There's a "Master" locked door elsewhere in the complex that takes you inside. You'll enter via an elevator, rather than leave, but it's fully doable this way. You also get access to the "Boss" chest, without a fight.

That's not entirely accurate. If a ship is 80x80 (40m from center in each direction), there are multiple POIs (including "The Factory") that will force the ship to land somewhere other than the designated pad (for the Factory, it's 3-4km away). On top of that, I've had slightly smaller ships clip into buildings because the landing location was off-center on the pad or because the pad had junk sitting around on it. I've also had the front outside edges clip into mountain sides.
Specific example, can't remember the quest name, but the settlers you help against the spacers...certain sized ships will land right next to his house with the left foremost segment clipped into his door, anything even slightly larger than that lands on the other side of the hill.
While I do use mods, I don't use any ship mods, I have Show Star Names, No Crafting Limit, No Temple Puzzles and Show XP on loading screens, none of which impact ships (or saves).

That's an issue with the game not recognizing size of the ship, for whatever reason.

In this quest line with settlers (I think it's the one you start via the satellite?) I had my rather large ship forced to land far away and had to walk to their outpost.

It ain't hard. Shift-Tab opens up the Steam Overlay, and then F12 takes the screenshot.

There's also functionality in Starfield itself and Windows to take screenshots, but you might as well use Steam if you're going to post the shot here.

No, you don't.

I have had the SAME ship land in multiple locations on that quest.... first time, it was quite hike to the farmers place, the second landing, I was right outside his door.... nothing changed on my ship..... just the game being fickle. :D

Yeah, it's like same ship sometimes lands on the outpost landing pad, then away from the outpost, the the next time on the landing pad again.

Same ship, same outpost, always clicking on the outpost icon instead of the landing area one. The ship in question isn't even the biggest one.

No consistency whatsoever if the game sees the ship size or not.

If you really want to get in (ie, if it's part of a radiant quest or something), you can make an outpost within walking distance, take off, and land at the outpost.
