No exploration, horribly written quests, boring gameplay, same copy/pasted planets, choices have little or no consequences, dumb ai, outdated graphics, loading screens everywhere etc.
Only shipbuilding is fun although pointless.
2/10
The 2 people above me can’t answer a simple question it seems.
You should not. Use gamepass to try the game and figure out if it's for you or not. Then you will know.
The level of misinformation in this game's reviews is absurdly high.
Sure, you may get some positive feedback, but that still aint going to give you an answer because their likes and dislikes aint yours.
Go search online with Twitch or something and find someone who actually plays the game and watch the game footage. You should be able to decide for yourself then whether or it appeals to you.
Majority of the hate for the game comes from people that failed at doing their research before buying it. Some were slow at remembering a new game does not have all the mods the older games do, but went ahead and got it anyways rather than waiting on patches and mods first. Rather than accept their mistake of purchasing a game that does not fit them they rant and rave about the game.
The game prologue is so outdated. Some quest heavily involve following a NPC like the prologue. Problem you don't have the same movement speed like the NPC. Quest NPC will slowly walk to a quest area in order for you to continue that quest. Some quest just handhold you like your choices barely matter.
Most of game mechanic of this game are just too tedious like getting your skills. You need to do bunch of challenges similar to a MMO just to acquire skill or perk. Lvling is quite similar to a MMO. Even selling your loot vendors in the game have very limited money to buy your loot. W/out a proper mini-map in the game. Selling your loot is quite tedious.
Then the UI it lacks QOL. Bunch of feature in previous Bethesda game UI are gone. Now it's generic like Triple A or WB UI. Seriously you cannot even quickly switch your weapon to unarmed. You need to manually unequipped your weapon just to use a fist in the game.
The only good in the game so far are ship mechanic. Ability to design my ship is fun but it can be really tedious and buggy. I have couple of crash and even corrupt my saves during ship design. The farther I play this game I keep discovering bugs and the lore of the game lack of direction.
1)No exploration. Wrong, there are tons of things to explore.
2)horribly written quests. Wrong, I've quite enjoyed the story so far and the pacing of the game.
3)boring gameplay. It's a looter shooter, it feels very much like fallout 4, both are good games. If you don't like those sort of games that's fine.
4) same copy/pasted planets. The planets look quite different to me. There are some POI's which I noticed have repeated now and again. But nothing which ruins the game.
5)choices have little or no consequences. Not sure about that, there does seem to be different routes in the story which you can take and different options to choose. You can also be a pirate etc and not exactly play the good guy. I'm still on my first playthrough so I'm not 100% on all the choices yet.
6)dumb ai. What makes it dumb? They all seem to function fine for me, they follow their scripting as they should.
7) outdated graphics. This one is totally incorrect, the graphics are amazing in this game. If you have bad graphics then I suspect you do not have it all turned up to max and have a slower PC. Because on my system the game looks so nice.
8)loading screens everywhere etc. Addressed this multiple times on this forum, loading screens are very few and far between if you play the game correctly. If you notice lots of loading screen over and over in a short space in time, it just means you're rushing through the content by chasing about the quest marker. You're meant to take your time and explore and loot and shoot, dialog with people in the world, discover new quests. And even the, the actual loading screen itself is very very brief, like 1-2 seconds loading screen. Skyrim is the same if you just fast travel everywhere and rush to objectives, you get loading screens faster that way,
9)Ship building is fun. I agree with you there. I wouldn't say it's pointless though, how can you say something is fun but also pointless? Isn't the whole point of a game to have fun? If you had fun ship building, then that was the point.
I think the streamer Gopher covered some reasons to buy it rather than Gamepass and listed the issues.
if you find it boring but havent even played it the game is definitely not for you,
it's not the only game ever made , there are at least 3 others to choose from , or maybe games arent your cup of tea,
have you thought about getting a new hobby ?
i hear lawn darts are making a comeback ,
or how about rubberband collecting ,
the possibilities are endless,
or is posting about how boring games that you havent played your hobby ?
i guess forum troll qualifies as a hobby, and it's a lot cheaper than playing pc games
