Starfield doesn;t have a valid digital signature
After this latest update, whenever I start Starfield up, my Norton pops up a message saying Starfield doesn't have a valid digital signature. What's going on with that?

Reinstall is always an option - but instead of doing that you can try this:

Exit and start Steam again (just to ensure it is grabbing fresh cache)

Goto the Starfield game folder and delete Starfield.exe then go into Steam, Right-Click Starfield in game library > Properties, then in the Install Files section > Verify Game File Integrity

This will force steam to download the exe again. If that fails to fix it, can uninstall and then install again. Not sure offhand if there is another way to update the certificate itself issued from Bethesda. Other than the exe properties in certificate info - install certificate, but this will do no good if it is showing an expired one for you. Mine says 2025 for v1.9.51.0

Just include an exception for the starfield directory.

Norton is bloatware at best, malware at worst. It wants to do every thing, for every one..... has a host of running processes, most of which, you just don't need. (do you need to check for driver updates every hour? Really?)

I didn't know Norton even still existed.

You can right click Starfield.exe and goto properties from the game folder and view the Digital Signature tab to see it has a valid certificate that does not need renewal until 3-1-2025. If yours isn't showing valid that way try verifying game file integrity in steam. Other option is to ignore it or get a better AV. (sorry but Norton ..)

I get it, I'm not a big fan of Norton either, but you have to use something.

It's completely normal. Besides, you agreed with latest EULA to share personnal informations anyway.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Ditched Norton for PCMatic in 2017 and NEVER looked back. Stop scanning for malware and viruses and simply whitelist the programs you DO want.

Norton is a wack anti-virus. Most people run Malwarebytes.
