Okay, how do I get a farther out view of my Starship?

On YouTube I see the outside camera view at greater distance from the piloted starship than I am getting in-game. I also see the camera orbit the piloted starship to keep the target in view and this also never happens in my game.

Does Starfield have camera view controls or a .INI file you edit to get these views? The 'head-locked-to-forward-view' is abysmally bad in space combat.

Not sure, maybe a screenshot would help… maybe you’re talking about using the mouse scroll wheel to switch between first person and third person zooms?

I can't upload screenshots to Steam from my desktop, but watch the first minute or so of the section on the Reef III and you will see the views are dynamically shifting to follow the whole starship and it's target.

Actually you see the views in the first minute of the video. It's a great vidoe BTW.

they guy is awful when it comes to explaining it, but its simple. its mostly just dragging a txt file into a folder.

Okay I have the answer, for me anyway. My middle mouse button is a little wonky so maybe you just press it. Me I have to hold it down until I get an exterior view. This disables the HUD, but you can get a view that can orbit your starship to keep the target in view.

So almost target view which the game should have included for flying-fighting in first person. Maybe someday.

Enter in photo mode allows move camera quite higher or further, but ok in photo mode you can't play.
