Yeah, found them. Not impressed. There is a very beefy shield generator, but I'm having trouble finding a reactor to power the stuff I have. Now THATS something they could've provided - a halfway decent reactor!

The Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector is awesome because it's max power 2 so you can put 6 of them on your ship, and it's class A so you don't need points in piloting skill to use it.
If you level the starship design skill you can get one that gives you 28 pips as early as level 12.
You don't need to power the shield all the way up for it to be great. At 50% power, it's still better than anything you can get without ship design ranks.
The weapon is also one of the best in the game due to its high rate of fire and low power usage (only 2 per weapon, allowing you to have 6 of them).
The game doesn't allow it. Only one set per ship.
Vanguard has the strongest B-class shield in the game. Also they have the highest damaging ballistics. Someone did the math and the Vanguard miniguns, if you equip all 6 of them, deal 800 hull damage. And those are A-class guns. you wont see damage that big until you get to the C-class lvl 60 missile launcher.
from my pov the vanguard modules are for people who want to tinker but dont have the engineering levels to do it.
I play max difficulty since long in my current play and pretty sure an important aspect was when I used this shield with 2/3 power, and now since some time with 100% power.
