Game says cloud storage almost full
I've didibopping happily along playing the game on my pc with no technical problems when I get a message stating "You are low on space to save your progress. Please delete some of your existing saved content." I've looked all over the 'net trying to find a solution to delete these old saves and none of these make any sense (to me at least). It can't be that hard to delete these old saves on the cloud. Hell, I'd even pay to delete the old saves or to increase the cloud space (if such a thing were possible). My brain stopped evolving (computer wise anyway) in the days of the 486. Is there any simple way to do this? (Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope!) :steamsad:

Just turn off the Steam cloud - it's more likely to corrupt all of your saves than it is to protect you in the long run. I had that experience around 10 years ago, turned it off, and have been fine ever since.

I found that manually saving the game instead of using the default save produced smaller save files.

Don't use it. But make sure you have enough extra free storage space on your drive to handle the saves. You want to maintain a min of 10% free storage space at all times for the OS to use.

Thanks, guys. I was just worried about my saved games as I had a computer go belly up on me once and I lost all of my saves. The cloud saved my bacon on that one and I supposed I was a little paranoid about it happening again.

Either turn Off the Steam Cloud or if you must use it then delete all but your last couple of saves from your Saves folder which is located here:
C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Saves

Then go in game to the main menu
choose Load
and delete all but your last couple of saves

some of us like to play on multiple devices so cloud is essential, how else am I supposed to transfer saves between pc and handheld? Dropbox?
as for OPs issue, delete old saves from the save folder then delete them in game, in the future I'd recommend using 3-4 save slots and saving over them

Just figured out how to delete them. You have to delete them one at a time from inside the game itself. I feel like such an idiot, I have no excuse... I just freed up a half a gig just deleting files in-game. Welp, at least I learned. (I just saw I quoted you without realizing it. I need to read before I post.) :steamfacepalm:

The OP said nothing about playing on multiple machines, simply referenced his "PC". If he had multiple gaming machines using Steam, I would instead have recommended daily manual backups of the save files elsewhere.

The solution may be different for different people and setups.

Ive tried many different ways to purge old saves on the cloud.
To then upload my current iteration, but the cloud still creates the older saves, I have long since deleted. Giving up on being able to purge the older starfield saves, Ive just disabled it.
