Melee Perks and gun bashing

Not the first person to observe here that melee is bordering on a trap - but gun bashing's proving quite useful (more as an interrupt than as damage). Question then is, do any of the various melee perks improve bashing in any way?

I don't think so, most require Unarmed or melee weapon equipped.. i'm playing almost pure melee on very hard setting. humans are cut down like grass with the speed boost and 10% heal every kill feels efficient. The hunter was not too hard either. most aliens are easy too but xenomorphs are hard so use chems and try to keep away from right in front of them.

for bash just use a high single bullet damage weapon for a bigger bash.

Stealth can multiply damages by 10, but I don't know how players achieve make stealth hits in melee.

Moreover in most cases enemies aren't alone so even if you kill one with stealth in melee, I don't see how kill the second as stealth won't be activated anymore.

So what skills, how, it's unclear.

How do you bash with your gun? I have seen some legendary that raise the damage of bash but I have yet to actually bash with a gun.

Main Menu, Options, Commands Binding. it's a command in combats section. I changed the default so can't say what it is.

Stealth: get behind and a single slash, the melee kill gives a 10% heal and a 20% speed boost 2nd person sometime does not react fast enough and also single slash.. but normal people are down in 2- 3 slashes anyway. so the stealth buff is a bit meh. i usually just run through and stab everyone. with the auto heals i hardly use med packs.

i find stealth is only a difference of killing them in one shot or really really killing them in one shot but with a massive speed penalty all that sneaking slows you down, best to just run through stabbing. Melee weapons also gives a 15% damage resistance, all damage types as far as i can tell.

my knife has lacerate and shattering so the red health bar is often gone before the white one. so avoiding their armour saves time.

I don't get it, 90 damages bases (max I quoted, but was max 40 a long time, and before max 20), and you played max difficulty, and you kill in 2/3 hits without stealth? How?

No idea how the numbers work.. my knife has an ignore armour and a bleed perk.. damage per hit is showing 60 on the knife. I am only lvl 25... but people die quick

also the level of the npc's are a bit wack.. there were lvl 30 guys is the same location and they die just as fast

edit found my melee limit: i was lvl 27 - 2 elite doods both lvl 50 close quarters - took several goes to prevail. got lucky in the end my suit disarmed them. lol/

@Mollymawk: Thanks for the details, not clear but ok. Perhaps the ignore armor perk makes a difference. Hard to say, your damages aren't shown.

It is V, interestingly you can use it with a melee weapon or unarmed attack in addition to using the left mouse button. A good combination is two taps of the mouse button and then V (or what ever you set it to). Using the set key is also the only way to raise the martial arts skill that requires you to disarm opponents.
