I think it should stay on steam in a "lest we forget" kinda way.
Absolutely.
Anthem has at least some aspects which are fun, like flying around with the jetpack.
Redfall is probably the closest you will get to SF in terms of low quality, but at least it has a seamingless overworld to explore with uniquely handcrafted locations. Its still a horrific game... but not as bad as Starfield ;)
You cant really compare a multiplayer shooter with a single player RPG.
That makes zero sense.
But lets play devils advocate for a while here.
In BF 2042 at least the shooting mechanics feel rewarding and refined.
They patched out most of the bugs and they reworked most maps.
At this point in time BF 2042 is actually an ok game you can have fun with.
Its not nearly as good as BF 3 or BF 4, but its still fun.
Starfield is unpatchable.
Even if they would add 50-100 uniquely handcrafted outposts, those 1000 planets would still feel empty. Having 1000 planets to explore is just a fundamentaly flawed idea.
Irrelevant. 63% is the true figure.
Yes, and it's pretty well set in stone now. The number of reviews are dwindling and daily the last couple days is back to 30% and rising on the day by day.
It suffers from the very common unrealistic expectations every sandbox game is facing since the release of minecraft : "exploration is boring i need more stuff to see"
Also the fact people expected a seemless multiplayer space sandbox exploration game, despite the fact it was very clear 1 year before launch that you would get a fallout4 with space ships and star systems.
Nobody expected it to be multiplayer.
And there are a lot of great sandbox / open world games which have hundrets of uniquely handcrafted areas and dungeons to explore :
- Subnautica
- Breath of the Wild
- Tears of the Kingdom
- Batman: Arkham City
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Elden Ring
- GTA 5
- RDR 2
- CP 2077
im currently playing In Cold Blood, released in 2000...and im having a great time.
Before the confirmation that it was SP only, plenty people were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on existing games like no mans sky arguing that SF would be a better MP sandbox game.
Also expecting MP to be added later, or modders to create MP mode.
It's completely wild what people expected from SF before its release.
None of the games in your list is a space sandbox game. Your point is not valid.
