stun guns what do
Anyone use the em stun gun customisation?

seems like it lasts for a very long time but not sure why you'd want to knock out a guy (sept for in the questline.)

i mean kinda hard to stun the guy when he's inside the other guy too but that's another topic related to npc ai.. as per usual

I used the EM stun rifle to help me level the Concealment skill, and also Stealth to some degree. Concealment challenges require a great number of unarmed or melee stealth kills, and until you're at tier 3 that is very difficult to accomplish. I figured out a way to fudge it a little -- stun the enemy, then sneak up and slice them with my wakizashi. I did both humans and creatures this way for a faster Concealment challenge completion. Other than that, I did use at times when it seemed non-lethal was the better way to go in particualr combat situations. Not many of those, however. The Ryujin mission was one where it did help a lot.

oh good call with the unarmed stealth kills that's what I'm talkn' bout. beauty.

figure you could do some cows standing out front of the outpost animal husbandry thing but in combination with the zap even better nice

like paralyse from skyrim

does it do anything like allow you to pickpocket all NPCs hidden items without chance of being caught? kinda like paralyse potion from skyrim?

There is literally only one quest where Stun weapons are an option and you get the gun for free. Everywhere else you stun an enemy you are forced to kill them anyway. It's a sick joke.

I never did any pickpocketing, but hey, give it a try.

yeah same with the pickpocket
well i see it like a little tutorial if you maybe did not realise it could stun?

i took that screenshot above because I was standing around for a good five minutes waiting for the two npcs to become not entangled. they both standing on the same location glitching into eachother and didn't want to like shoot the guard and get rekt by all the guards lol

i was impressed at how quickly the medical equipment was set up tho during that little event tho. musta been a bit longer .. or maybe depending on dialog options i dono

I used it quite often to do non-lethal attacks, never was "forced" to follow up with murder, though I did sometimes choose to for skill leveling as mentioned above. The biggest problem with EM rifles is that even after workbenching the heck out of them, it takes numerous hits to put even weaker enemies down. At higher enemy levels it's not nearly as effective and takes too long to be practical, though it can be done. I think it is also an alternative provided for those who prefer non-lethal solutions overall.

The Ryujin mission is the only time I needed this to avoid a kill. It worked great. Oh yeah and the UC Terramorph quest also, but its kind of scripted there.

This is literally incorrect. The Ryujin quest chain alone, has more than just a couple cases when it is a option. And it's always a option to use if you want. The downed state of the npc's can last a long time. Plenty of time to do what you need and run away.

The main issue using it is the game play setting. Anything above normal, does not work very well at all. Takes too many shots on the npc to become effective. At least not good enough for me to use it.

No you still have a chance to be caught by a stunned enemy when you pick pocket them, it does make raising the skill easier to stun then attempt the pickpocket.

I have a pacifist build that uses EM weapons if he can't talk his way out of things. I can't always complete the quests as a lot do have a kill flag, once the creation kit comes out I will be looking for a mod similar to ones in FO4 where you can force a character to surrender which triggers the required flags in that game.

I have seen videos where the stunned enemy takes a ton more damage with regular weapons particularly if you use stealth after the stun.

There are also a few quests that will give more experience and credits if you use a stun weapon. One that come to mind is the one Dr. Percival gives to collect samples of apex predators. It is optional but the reward makes it worth doing it using EM weapons to drop the target then harvesting the sample. I am not sure though if the experience is more then if you just get the experience from the kill.

True. Silvermane usually isn't this ignorant of the game, so I'm kind of surprised by his clearly false claim on the stun guns. I've done the Ryujin quest multiple times, that last guard right outside the prototype chamber can be a pain. If you don't have Void Form, stunning her is the next best option and she's still on the floor by the time I finish the mission.

There is a very strong EM weapon you can get at the beginning of the game with a simple fetch quest which opens up the merchants inventory.

If it's available for NG+ I will keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the tip.

the number of consecutive hits aye. with the blue slider health bar thing.
low on the em weapon skill perks over on my end but maybe with perks it gets better..
maybe sneak combo?

if you can't 'one-hit' a guy.. would make it more hectic and maybe harder to use in combination with pickpocket or stealth

just tried to mine a mineral deposit with one. doesn't work :p

would be kinda fun to snipe at nuggets from long range
