Can I move parts from one ship to another?
EDIT - To stop any misunderstanding. What I am talking about are ship parts. Not the loot on pirate ships. I want to break part to use to build a different ship "as in my main ship get parts from stolen ships". But thats been answered.

As in modules and such? I stole my first ship from mercs "oddly sharah Or how ever spell her name.. said -Oh No! You will kill some one!-. Umm they attacked me first! Darn woman lol"

So took ship to a port. Cost me 13.5K to register it. And to sell it would be 16.5k? First off I expected a lot more value. But I removed all the parts except required. And sold it for 5k. Went to my main ship to add the parts but they not around. So removing parts only sell them or some thing? Cant reuse on another ship?

so like each ship occupies one slot right but you can only ever have one ship active at a time (home ship) and all your cargo automatically moves to whatever ship is your "home ship"..

uh when you delete parts you just get money back. the text turns from red to blue. red is negative money while blue is positive. you also gotta look at the individual npc's coin bank to see if he even has enough credits.

oh and also to unlock new parts.. you need to go directly to the brand shop in main cities .. you find an NPC that allowes you to customise your ship.. but now there's like the parts that they sell as a brand added to the list. I'm not talkin about the first npc you see at the landing pad. you'll have to magically find a brand specific npc that sells only one brand.. kinda crappy way to do it.

the only way you unlock things is with perks but that only unlocks the ability to build those from the secret hidden npcs .. hard to find with no map

so you really gotta fly around clipping parts all over your ship from different brands from different cities. basically means your running to each npc for the selection of parts you want to use instead of "unlocking" it like you'd think would happen

you're right, you make ass money from selling ships at first. later on you find more valuable ships that sell for like 50k profit but at first kinda lame.

to make money you want to make an outpost and mine ore and sell it manually.

No. Sorry.

That would be too convenient of a QoL feature.

The game intends that you only have one Home Ship at a time. When you switch which ship is your Home Ship, then everything will be transferred from the previous ship to the new one. If you find a new ship, just take everything stored in cargo hold and the captains locker.

Beyond that not clear what you are asking. Just take everything from the stolen ship and then store it on your home ship.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Did you read the OP? They are talking about wanting to take a ship module from a captured ship and installing it on a different ship.
Ah ok I see now. Got game mostly for the story and ship building. So been messing with ships lately. Still new to game. Trying to get better ship parts has me stumped. Though the brand thing helps me out. Didnt think to go to each shipyard. Might need play with google to find my parts. But that seems a bit excessive to have to do :-(

Correct I was asking about modules :-) I wasnt going to reply to them so I didnt "point" them out :-) But they did bring up another questions for me.. What if prior ship has 2k of cargo in it. But new one only holds 500lbs? Do I lost the overage permenently?
Bunker Jan 1, 2024 @ 8:19am
the overflow of cargo just goes into the home ship
even if 9999999999999999999999999999999
still goes in
can't add more tho
cargo space only matters if you wana add to it lol

you can also take stuff in and out of cargo from your inventory screen.
but not from the inventory screen.. you press h to go to your ship screen and press f for cargo inventory lol
took me like 50 hours to figure that crap out
oh and it only works if you're within a certain range of your ship

so ya you can glitch cargo size by swapping ships to bring lots of crap while flying a tiny fighter craft. or drop items in the cockpit for ultimate cheese.. but then you can't get to it with the cargo screen thing.

If the cargo transfer works properly and doesn't bug out no (which can happen so save often), you don't lose anything, but you can't add anything else to you cargo hold as its overloaded ... which is funny if you go from 10k + cargo to 1k cargo.

Have only had it work once when outside of ship. Otherwise doesnt seem to work for me.

Went from 2k+ to around 420 or so so was worried. I havent looked yet but after I got new ship top port I rebuilt main ship and added even more storage. Around 3k now ;-) But for hassle of stealling that ship.. wasnt worth effort.

I would like the ability to take ships apart and store those parts with the Ship Builder inventory. Even if they charge a fee for each part. Maybe in the Equipment category they have now for special parts.

Commerce 4 will give you more resale value. Its a percentage so I make 30k profit on some ships.

This would also make an interesting feature to add to the outpost shipyards..... Being able to scrap a ship, and keep the parts you like, to put on another ship, would be very cool.

That would give outposts a purpose.
Ah I see. Not too bad. But 30k for me still bit low. But then again.. Didnt use too many health or repairs or ammo in end. And can sell the loot from inside as well. So guess not too bad in end.
Bunker Jan 1, 2024 @ 8:46am
yeah let me keep the parts in some kinda part bank forever to use
that would make the player want to collect all the parts encase they'd want to use em
more like investing in the toybox parts kinda thing

also.. I can't remember what parts are where!
would help to SEE an icon for parts you COULD build but can't.
when you're at a regular platform all the good brand parts are 'hidden'
