What's the story about Grandma?
In the Piazza System you run into a civilian ship labeled "Grandma". She contacts you on the radio and invites you over for a meal. Accepting her invitation gives you the opportunity board her ship where the only area accessible is the crew quarters -- and NO Grandma. Nobody is home. There is only one other door (which I presume gives access to the Cockpit), but it's totally unavailable; doesn't even say "Inaccessible". You can vacuum the entire module; nothing is labeled "Steal".

I had thought maybe it was a trap, like maybe she was a cannibal, and you were her next designated target. But, no, there simply isn't anyway to interact with her again.

So, does anyone have a clue about what the story is about Grandma?

No idea. But I took all of her food glady.

I ate literally all of it . There's so much

You're saying she wasn't sitting on the couch when you entered her ship? For me she was there... being rather useless but she was there and if I recall you can have a short convo with her.
I do agree with you that at first I went into full fallout-evil-vault-experiment-shenanigans mode and was expecting some shady stuff to happen, so I had my weapon at the ready.
Only to find that apparently she is exactly what she claims: an old lady inviting you for dinner (and all her belongings) and is very nice and amiable person.
You can run into her in other location too, I've come across her a good half dozen times now, never went along with it after the first time though. Somewhere I'm hoping recurring encounters would lead to some form of plot twist XD.

The biggest disappointment about grandma was that she was exactly what she made herself out to be. Remember Andale in Fallout 3? I was expecting that, instead I got tea and cucumber sandwiches. Can't even kill her and steal her ship :VGRUMPY:

gives me a Hansel & Gretel vibe when she shows up, the ship interior should be decked out in gingerbread.
This and Chunks paint a picture of the future and meat consumption

There's no hidden complexity here, just one of the tedious omg so random encounters that Emil thinks are a substitute for good writing.

Lol your game is glitched. I've ran into grandma before. She's retired, her kids are all grown up, her husband died so she's spending the rest of her life exploring the stars. Its also hinted that she might be terminally ill, but thats just me overanalyzing her coughs.

Just a random event, no more depth to it than that. The game doesn't even track that you kill her because she just respawns like any other random planet orbit event.

Because I have you blocked now, the text on my screen that you represent no longer exists

That should get some deep thoughts going
