How do I collect resources from an outpost from my ship?
I've searched this forum and the internet and everyone is talking about all the complexities of the Outpost system. But if they are talking about this, purportedly the simplest part of the system, I can't find it.

I've set up an outpost, an extractor, and powered it. I've set up a Transfer Container, from which I'm suppose to be able to collect resources while on my ship.

Basic question: How? What's the command? Where's the menu? In short, how do you do this very simple transfer, from your outpost to your ship?

From the ship cargo menu, you can cycle through the inventory sources to transfer. One of them will show up as the name of your outpost. That's the Transfer Container.

You have to have a container for the output of the extractor as well, and link it.

Good catch! OP didn't say he actually connected to the transfer container and then verified it has contents.

I'm not seeing it. All I see is my personal inventory and my ships hold. That's it.

I'm landed on the planet. Is that too close? Do I need to be in orbit?

Do you have a landing pad AT the outpost? I suspect you need to be sitting on it for the cargo transfer to work.

Okay, I have a landing pad, but how do I land there? Every time I pick my outpost as a landing location is lands me a mile away, at my original landing site.

(God! This is so stupidly harder than it needs to be!)

Use the landing pad to swap home ships. Now your ship is on the landing pad.

I have the landing pad only. There's no place to change your home ship. I usually do that with the ship services guy. Do I need to hire a guy to do that? Or is there some sort of terminal I need to build or something?

The Large Landing Pad has a console you can interact with (near the stairs) to enter the Ship Builder screen, just like the Ship Services technician.

If your ship is too big it won't land on the small landing pad anyway. I never build the small ones.

actually never used the small landing pad..

and took me like 100 hours to figure out that you can place an airlock right next to the large one and the stairs automatically get removed. so you can walk from your pad to a room without needing to go up and down a million times

Okay, I have my large landing pad, my ship's parked on it. Still don't see the transfer container as an inventory option. I even tried to make a transfer link to the landing pad and my ship, but it wouldn't connect.

(I hate that I have to have someone walk me through this like a baby! But thanks.)

Confirm your Transfer Container has contents. Here's a guide that should be able to walk you through the process:

Yep...it's full of iron, aluminum, and adaptive frames (from my fabricator).

I only transferred my ship here using the ship builder console. Do I maybe need to take off and land again? (He said, grasping at straws.)

I’ve also had problems with this, so don’t feel bad. Sometimes I see the transfer menu, sometimes I don’t. I assume it’s a landing pad problem, I just haven’t cared enough to try to fix it. I usually just pick up all my minerals and jump skip over to my ship.

You build a tall building next to the pad?
