Can your other ships operate independently of you?
Just acquired my first additional ship (the prison shuttle from the Surgical Strike mission) and buffed it to be even more badazz than the Frontier (I called it Serenity...iykyk).

Question: Can I hire a crew for this ship and then send them off to do supply runs between my outpost and sale points? Or will Serenity have to follow me around everywhere I go and just back me up on my missions? If the latter, it's a huge missed opportunity for some passive income.

NO, but

You can use outposts for by themselves to take goods other places. I've not done it.

Some Civilian outpost have cargo terminal that I think you can use for this. But ships... No.

That's way too much to ask for.

In fact, if it's not the ship your using it will remain in "storage" *somewhere* until you choose to use it as your "Home Ship" again.

It won't be your ally or help you in space fights, carry cargo to/from outposts or become a trader for extra income, or anything like that.

Well, then, not for nothing, what's it good for? Sheesh! (Rhetorical question, of course.)

You can have different ships tuned to special needs. But mainly it's for stealing ships and then selling them.

No you can only have 1 home ship active, your crew members can't fly others, it would be cool if they did though I would send them on Survey Missions, and they notify me if they come across a unique location

Don't forget souvenirs. I never did get rid of the crappy shuttle from the CF plotline.

That's the one I spent something like 15k to buff. It's awful cool now. I still prefer the Frontier though - it's sleeker. I'd take the shuttle (I renamed Serenity) into battle any day, though! (If swapping ships were less clunky.)

there is no reason it couldn't .... if you take a ship in space your old one flies off after a very short delay, as if manned and piloted by someone in a hurry. and the game has AI pilots etc. No reason you couldn't split your team and have 3 or 4 ships to battle the AI 3-4 ships... only reason really is.... artificial limitations that you hit no matter what you want to do.

Great topic been waiting for another Starfield spaceships topic that is somewhat interesting for like 2 months!

Starfield ships have 4x damage going at the moment been complaining about that since day one. This makes Starfields excellent ships into trash piles in space a common theme sadly.

Anyway if the 4x damage is removed then Starfields ships and ship gameplay will be more excellent. :steamhappy:

As seen in this video!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7veYZoy9Tw

The space battles being over so quickly wont be such an annoying problem then. As it is targeting components before the ship is destroyed and many facets of space gameplay are made needlessly more difficult or cheapened by the 4x damage,

Then the idea of multiple player ships and fleet battles and things is alot more fun.

It is not a fleet management game. That would require much more from the interface and take away from the core goal of the game. It would also sit between genres. If you want that then buy X4: Foundations. But be warned, that game will not hold your hand in any way, shape or form. It is brutal.
