Starborn
I recently started this game and played through main quest line. After getting the Starborn ship and armor found out about NG+ up to 10x for armor and level 6 ship. Since I haven't played much of the game itself, I figured I would max those out and then start the game basically. Been trying to speed run the NGs to get that and play. Knowing I can probably get better armor in game at some point.

Anyway, I have to question why not pass the main story, get your armor and gear and then be able to level it up within the game instead of constantly completing a short version of main story line over again. It does seem a little pointless. Also seeing video about people saving before the end and reloading to get the perfect rolls on the armor since you can only get it once at the beginning. It feels broken.

You would figure once you have that ability to own that stuff, you can battle with other Starborn and be able to acquire gear (armor) from Starborn you kill for possible upgrades, invade their ships, salvage them, get upgraded parts since no colony recognizes these ships, and build an outpost with specific Starborn attributes that allow you do things with your gear and ships (customize Starboard ships etc). It would seem like that has better integration into how the rest of the game works. And why does Starborn have no weapons types? There is weapons on the ships. Seems like things are missing here.

I see this stuff becoming a thing you stick on a mannequin for show or maybe a follower can wear the armor (haven't tried). Especially with some of these ships that people build that are a flying base basically. So much more functional in the end.

Is there any known plans to improve on this?

They want you to grind and keep playing, you like a lot of content right.
That is the sense behind this

You know, I have hundreds of hours in this game and I get the same feeling every play through.

It's like Todd Howard was standing in a meeting one day and said, "Ok, folks. Let's finish this game and tie up all the loose ends including the Starborn." Suddenly an aid burst in screaming "MICROSOFT BOUGHT US!" and Todd said, "We're done.".

Like things were just stopped. Or not done. I get quest glitches (never met a game w/o one), but things like food, (which is useless), or chems (which I just buy Panacea and be done with it) or infinite meds, to a Starborn ship you are awarded with which is not upgradable and is totally useless.

Personally, I run around the New Atlanis star system until I find spacers, Kill until I get the Secret Hideout quest and then go get the Mantis. it isn't the best, but it's a good way to start.

for me, playing as if starborn is only if you want to race through to get to the next NG+.

Rushing Starborn is a choice. I've read people say to do it, but that seems short sighted. I'm not telling you not to do it, but I'm not surprised that you may be finding it's killing the roleplay immersion. I took the Starborn to be a thing that there are infinite universes and when you move to the next, you are the only being that is necessarily advancing. It's not like the Starborn all advance as one. It's very opaque. To make a very precise or clearly understood infinite multiverse would have been impossible. I don't think there's a PC in the world that could contain the information needed for such an endeavor, even if if you had the development time to write it all.

The other Starborn you kill actually drop loot, but you can't get it before the corpse disappears.

I'd like a mod that prevents their corpses from vanishing (or I'll write one myself when the CK comes out).

I do like that stuff, it would be nice to have more depth to what you can do with it. Looting them before disappearing would be nice if there was something you can only see after becoming a starborn.
