Still no workshop mods?
What's the hold up? I don't want to deal with Nexus mods and learning how to manually install that nonsense.

fallout 4 does not have workshop and never did

modding bethesda games has always been done though nexus and their respective mod managers

Skyrim.

You do know your asking regular players for information only a dev can give right? As player we expect the mod tools to be released in early 2024 but in the end it is up too the devs to decide the tools are ready to be released. It might as wel become winter 2024

Bethesda moved away from Steam Workshop mods after Skyrim. I know they do intend to release a Starfield creation kit and mod support next year, but it will probably be through an in-game system ala FO4 and/or the Bethesda client, although like FO4 you will probably be able to get it to run Nexus mods.

Also the game hasn't even official mod support (yet)..... so what makes you think there would be a workshop

Did you buy the "official Steam mod support built-in" version of Starfield? Where's all this entitlement coming from these days?

You don't install mods manually with Nexus. Your register an account, download the app, and then either compile your stack of mods by installing them with two clicks or install a pre-made collection.

You CAN manually install them. I prefer to, since "mod managers" are a whole extra level of complication and extra levels of complication always come with extra levels of bugs, glitches, and potential for malicious code.

Of course in OP's case it does sound more like his reason for not using mod managers is less about paranoia and more about obliviousness. :P

Manually installing is the way, especially with smaller stuff.

I remember when it was all manual back with oblivion.
I think I had a mod manager for fallout 3 though.

That's exactly the thing I would say about installing mods manually. It's glitchy, buggy, error-prone, and risky.

Nexusmods did a great job with all games I played modded. (When supported of course). And it's the opposite of complicated, Nexus even checks for mod updates and installs them with one click if you want. Or point out file conflicts that would go unnoticed when collecting your mods from various sources and deploying them manually. Nexus also has a forum for every mod where users and developers can sort out bugs and errors.

What Nexusmods can't do, but using no mod manager won't solve either, is securing compatibility, absence of errors in or between mods, and all the other problems that are inherent to mods as a concept.

They will be on the Bethesda site when the Creation-Kit is released and the mods are made.

Any way many mods required SFSE. And no any point have it in Steam workshop or BGS internal mods site. Also Nexus always have more mods for BGS games.

Modding Starfield is going to be a bit different than previous games.

BGS added new overlay to mods system and it now relies a lot more to ESM and ESL files than previous games.

There is also this new Data folder under My Games/Starfield. It's full purpose is still a bit unclear, but Vortex devs decided to create Folder Junction system to avoid conflicts with it.

We will know more once CK arrives.

I installed my mods manually for about 15 years now.

I only ever tried a mod manager once and it screwed up my prior to trying the mod manager perfectly working manually set load order and thus made my game crash

I never tried again. I rather stick to the old, traditional ways of installing mods.
