So many bugged quests
Hello All,
I do love the game and it's mechanics and after the main quest being bugged I had resolved myself to just play until the quest was fixed. Still no fix. OK, so it might take awhile and might even be near impossible to fix (i am lvl 70 with no intention of starting over, which I did 3 times and main quest was till bugged). So then I get another bugged quest, I can't sit in the chair at the board room (sorry can't remember the quest name but is after exposing the mole). <sigh> ok another one that hopefully will be fixed, just move on I told myself. Graphics are amazing and even though I have not got into the ship building thing there is plenty to keep me busy. Hadn't lost heart yet until yesterday when another quest bug showed up. This time it is with the Myra Cruz one. I am in the asteroid mine and after killing her I can't exit. Just keep getting shocked on the broken switch. At this point I am not going to be playing any longer until the quests are fixed. It seems this would have been a giant target for regression testing although the plethora of machine configurations does increase the challenge. I really do want this game to be my go to but with these bugs it has lost it's appeal. Hopefully they are working on it now and will be included in any upcoming DLC (or preferably with a free patch).

The quests aren't bugged for everyone. Definitely a minority of players have this issue. I had different issues with quests during my first game. NG+ fixed them for me.

I have had very few quest bugs and none which a reload of a save or the game didn't fix.

Which broken switch?

:steamthis: Since my first game, save file discipline has saved the day for me as well. 1 hard save per character level and 4-5 hard saves for my current level. Sometimes I wonder if making frequent saves somehow prevents quests from getting broken.

Thanks for all who read. I know that I am in the minority for bugged quests but I have found posts about these same ones being bugged. I reloaded old saves 3 times going back pretty far and still bugged. I even started over 2 times and got the same bug about the main quest although that is as far as I went (lvl 11).
The broken switch is at the bottom of the asteroid mine after maya cruz quest. There are actually 2 broken switches. One is by the giant door and the other is by a smaller door almost directly across from the big door.
It is just frustrating to spend a few hours doing a long chain quest to not be able to complete it.
I don't usually write that often in the forums but am a bit disappointed that I keep running into these.
I have an Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor running at 3.59 GHz and 16gb of RAM. A fairly modern machine (I know that is relative).

Oh, and yes I have all the latest updates and drivers in case you were wondering. Did I mention that I rebooted :) and did verification on the files in Steam.

I can't remember if we get a key from Maya or if the doors simply open after her encounter. If there's a key, the questlog should point you to it. I would try console commands. Nextstage might budge the quest and open that door. I used a lot of console commands to get through my first game. I haven't had to since then.

You dont use that broken switch, on the way out after killing her , use the elivator that takes you to a barracks , from there after looting it, you are then behind that switch door exit, the switch is on the wall . not a broken one.

It's something quite annoying, it happened to me sometimes and now it doesn't anymore, but I understand your displeasure.

I've had many quest blocking/breaking bugs in my playthroughs. My PC was just above minimum spec when I purchased SF and so, I expected to have some issues. I have since done some upgrades and it functions better gamewise.

From my experience, quest bugs occur more frequently when you start a long quest, stop partway through it - to do other quests or just random stuff (pirating ships/what-not). The uncompleted (long) quest seems to break once you return to it, like the quest lines are somehow sharing global variables. If I focus on completing the longer questlines, without deviation, the quest breaking bugs appear to lessen.

This is my experience as well. The problem started for me when I began another quest while an earlier quest was still incomplete. I abandoned it near the end. That was a huge mistake.
