Best Ways to increase Outpost Security
So... An Outpost on a Lvl 50 plantet: plenty of aggressive fauna--- I find myself repairing robots each time I visit. Have built up four ballistic level 3 auto-turrets. Added an Outpost Security Manager to the Hab. Built a watchtower. Anything I'm missing for such planets? (Other than not building the bloody outpost in the first place).

Thanks-

d.

I had 20 outposts in my first play through and have like 6 or 7 so far this time around. never experienced issues like this but I use the very best turrets and the very best security robots, and the max number of both. I also have all the skills unlocked for both in terms of how many and quality. Not sure if that's why.

I also, like you hire outpost security crew.

Sounds like you are doing the best you can. If you have crew members assigned there, make sure to give them really good weapons. A over 100 level critter attacked one of my Outposts when I was inside it and the crew member went outside and tried defending it using a single shot sniper rifle. She got put down fast. But they also may not even help in defending it. :p

I was at one of my Outposts checking something close to it's outer build circle, when 6 Spacers attacked. The two crew members in the Hab never came out to defend the Outpost, but the turrets did. The Spacers took out the turrets. I had to take out the Spacers myself and almost died doing it. :P

But I do have the Bounty Hunter Trait, so being attacked by them out of the blue, is not uncommon.

Build your high value targets (power and production) inside a ring of elevated habs, using storage containers to block the passages between them. Put defenses outside the ring and inside, just in case the game spawns threats inside the ring.

One thing that pissed me off about Fallout 4 was I spent all that time walling in a settlement only to stand there and watch Raiders and Gunners teleport into my crop fields, well inside the walls, behind my turrets. I dropped mini nukes on the whole thing.

I've encountered this issue as well. Besides building a huge wall around my outpost, the simplest solution is to find a planet with the resources I need that doesn't have any fauna. And one that's level 40 or less is a bonus. Sometimes hostiles will land on barren planets and destroy your stuff just the same.

I felt that turrets were useless, the robot dog thing was best; but stuff was still going to get attacked and break periodically. Really though, it was fun just the same. Made having supplies and outpost visits more interesting, game a little more dynamic.

The first time I built an outpost that was in a high fauna area my turrets took care of them immediately.

Once i finished building it i went inside my hab which was all glass. I started hearing gun fire. Looked outside and my turrets and robots where lighting up the night. I just sat back and enjoyed the show. Never had an issue at that outpost either. They work.

Edit: and yes, as someone else mentioned line of sight is important so set turrets up accordingly. Also check their swivel range to make sure each one is covering the proper unobstructed area.

You can build walls using habs and storage containers, and place defence turrets in line of sight of the remaining weak spots
