Starfield not working correctly with controller

I can't aim with controller but with the mouse I can but I don't want to play with a mouse and keyboard I want to play with my controller, can someone please tell me how to fix this? by the way people keep calling me a TROLL but I'm fu**ing not so stop with that BS!

You mean down sights? Default setting is bottom left trigger to aim. Right bottom trigger to fire. I'm using Xbox controller.

Also have steam support enabled for controllers for xbox. See buttons and everything in menues etc.

No it is the Xbox One x or s controller I am using on the PC and yes my settings are on on STEAM to use my controller

Logitech controller? I'm using the xbox controller on PC myself. I don't have an xbox.

That's what I use and was able to fix it by doing the following.

Reboot your PC.
(don't launch game yet)
Remove the battery from your controller
Unplug your usb connection
Reconnect USB
insert battery
(don't launch game yet)
Start controller (turn it on)
Now go into your library and go to Starfield's and right click
go to: Manage/ Controller layout
make sure the official template is selected and that you see the green check mark.
save if needed
Launch game

Sorry I forgot to mention that I have the game on the Xbox PC game pass not STEAM because I wanted to try it out first before I decide to buy it and I don't see any options to configure the controller on the game pass

did you try the in-game menu settings? Been a while since i launched my xbox so i forget the exact layout of the menu's.

Add the game as a non-steam game under the game menu tab. You can even launch the epic store this way for example and launch games like Fortnite and get the controller support.

Basically easier to find the exe of Starfield, add the game under the tab above. Launch it in steam if you can. If that works you should have steam controller support.

I tried to add it as a non STEAM game but I couldn't get it to launch and it said something about I don't have permission or some crap

Hmm. Hard to know. Can you start the Microsoft game pass in steam and launch it from the app? I did this with epic store.

You might have to search a YouTube video for how to do that. It’s been awhile since I’ve played with setting that up probably a year ago. I’ll see if I can find one.
