Star Citizen, really?
So, after reading so many comments about Star Citizen being so much better than Starfield, and the space exploration of Starfield being compared to Star Citizen, as well and the questlines and everything, I decided to give it a go. They had an open Alpha last weekend, I believe it is still on going and I have to admit... the experience was... well find out below:

So the first thing that I did after successfully launching the game was to create a character, the tool was quite abstruse. Literally. Anyway, I managed to create the character after wondering for 10 minutes from where to start and how the tool actually works. Once more, unclear, complex even. However, I have to point out that they do have an interesting and unique character creator tool, just I wish it was a lot more intuitive.

Moving on, I finally managed to create my character after 40+ minutes and it wasn't because I was trying to make him look good but because I was trying to make him look... let's say something acceptable as a character that I usually play. Regretfully, the tool had very limited scope but I am not criticizing that, the game is still in Alpha state after all.

Finally, I managed to start the game, the performance was terrible, like really terrible so I am not sure why so many people claimed that the game performs better than Starfield, when in reality it isn't but I swallowed and moved on, dropped the settings even to High from Very High, I said myself, okay, not optimized that is okay it is an Alpha after all. You DO NOT criticize game's performance based on Alpha.

Finally, I got down to the main lobby where the game starts, I have to add here that I needed at least 30 or so minutes to get out from the first room in which you spawn until you figure out the controls, some are intuitive others are very confusing, some are even baffling. I also checked interactive objects and other things within the room but let's say that the controls for getting an object and then using that object were completely opposite of intuitive but I have to applaud the system they created here like grabbing an object and clipping it on the surface, it was snappy, interesting to be honest but I still think that they could have done it more intuitive to the average player.

Finally, I start my adventure in Star Citizen and my first mission is to get to the Spaceport to get my ship, part of the tutorial, therefore, I did and well, the rest you can follow in the video you can get, my first hand experience with Star Citizen and then you can even check my Starfield gameplay through that are 10 times better. All three recordings were done in the very same day within a short spasm of time just to make sure that I make proper comparison:

https://youtu.be/5xutMyMjpnM

I do apologize in advance for the bad audio recording in Star Citizen, I honestly didn't realize that I was recording with my laptop mic throughout the entire time and I did not want to make a second video with false first-impression of Star Citizen, plus it does catch how I truly felt and how terrible the experience was.

My first thought was "oh that could be cool" second was "but who is publishing it?"

Turns out Ubisoft, so I don't care about it. I'll just assume it will be lackluster and move on.
That is a shame. Funny tho, EA lost the Star Wars license due to all the bad games they published lol. Disney wouldn't renew the license with them

I don't really see much difference between the two, they both pull the same crap.

Well studios have multiple teams working on different things cause those teams are spread out by states, countries, etc. For this one it's the guys at Massive who did work with Division 2 and me love Division 2 so winner winner chicken dinner! I WIN

If you played far cry or watch dogs, you've seen most of what assassin's creed has to offer.

At least the first couple were good...

I've played the Far Cry series up to 3. 2nd one was the best imo. Watchdogs I couldn't really get into. I own all of them. I think I got them for free actually lol but they're just too basic. Not enough variation in game-play.

Yeah the 3rd far cry was when they started the Ubiconic open world stuff. So just imagine that big map filled with copy pasted activities copied all over, parkour tower climbing to reveal the map etc.

They did the same mechanics in 3 different series... in different genres.... Made all of them feel so bland.

Yup. That's why I chuckle about the Sony fans with their overpriced exclusive quick time games they play.

Well, 7dtd delivers nicely even for alpha. I have 1500 hours in 7dtd. And it was great fun, even though I don't like the zombie games.
For me the main thing is that a game is fun and playable.
Also 7dtd is only indy game with low budget and few in team.
7 days to die is in early access, not alpha phase.... Early access can mean whatever the ♥♥♥♥ devs want it to mean, from "barely a game and should still be in alpha" to "we could have called this finished years ago but we still want to add more to it."

Star Citizen is the first one, 7dtd is the latter.

I almost believed you, but then I wanted to be sure, and all over the internet I get information like this:

"Early access, also known as alpha access, alpha founding, paid alpha, or game preview, is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can purchase and play a game in the various pre-release development cycles, such as pre -alpha, alpha, and/or beta, while the developer is able to use those funds to continue further development on the game".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_access

I can understand your frustration, but at the same time you get free updates with content.

I like how the playstation exclusive crowd don't realize how many loading screens there are in those games.

When you have a whole cutscene of someone opening a door.... and it plays every time you open that door... That's a loading screen. When you have to travel across a hallway to get to the next area and characters chat while you do it... That's a loading screen.

But they think there are no loading screens :undyne:

Again, early access on steam is whatever a developer wants it to be.
Project Zomboid could have been called done 3 years ago but it is still in "early access" because developers still want to add more to it. Lots of games are like that, including 7 days to die.

Alpha stage is when you are still fleshing out the game with core mechanics and not just polishing up what is already there. Tons of early access games release in a state that could be called a beta, tons release in a state that can barely be called a game at all.

There are even games that come out as a full release that probably should still be considered beta at best...

Even your quoted bit includes beta in the definition. There is a HUGE difference between an alpha and a beta.

Star citizen is a promise, and if RSI manage to achieve half of their goals, it could be "the MMO space opera RPG".

What I hear is: "It was running better before but there were less things to deal with client side and server side."

Why?

"Star citizen is a promise, and if RSI manages to achieve half of their goals, it could be "the MMO space opera RPG".

Promise? Show more than just what a game could be in fantasy.

Why not just base the game on what is now, and some goals in the near future.

Give promises that are not broken for several years in a row.

when I bought the starter pack, I knew that it will be a long alpha testing time.

I'm not hurry, some things need time.

Bingo. DayZ Alpha taught me a lot about these true early access alpha's where the devs are still building the engine at the same time as developing the game and giving people access to what they've actually developed. However there are those who think Early Access means "Early Release" and they are just buying the game early :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

Again early access on steam :
https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess

"Steam Early Access enables you to sell your game on Steam while it is still being developed, and provide context to customers that a product should be considered "unfinished." Early Access is a place for games that are in a playable alpha or beta state , are worth the current value of the playable build, and that you plan to continue to develop for release."

I have nothing against devs adding new content for free. 7dtd has very good reviews and many followers.
as well as Empyrion which is my favorite space sandbox game.
These games have been around for years and have delivered great gameplay
