That is silly.
^^This^^
I give it a go with each new system I build. Maybe someday.
What is currently available, is a still in development test bed to solve all the technical issues involved in doing what every other Space game fakes.
I went in eyes wide open, knowing the project would take around a decade, we are talking the most ambitious Space MMO in history & the most ambitious Single Player RPG, at the same time, no publisher was going to back the project, but I was not either unless it was 100% Crowdfunded. Even then, I write my money off the day I back.
That only became a reality, after 26 Million was raised, when existing backers voted by 85% to scrap the fully funded original goal, & go for the project I would back with my cash.
That said, I don't give a damn about Star Citizen, but I still backed the project in Feb 2014.
By then the funding was @ $40 Million, and rising, I backed with $120.
I backed mostly for Squadron 42, but also for the extremely ambitious goals.
I have a perfect 6 games, 0 fails where crowdfunding is concerned.
Dreamfall: Chapters
Obduction
Wasteland 2
Divinity: Original Sin
Divinity: Original Sin !!
Baldur's Gate 3
The one game I had most confidence in was BG3, given the prior two successes.
That said I have never doubted that CIG would deliver, they are making the games.
It's just been announced that Squadron 42 is "Feature Complete".
In old school dev terms, it's now in ALPHA. I expect that to be another year.
BETA, is final polish, call that another year (Without Crunch).
So given the caveat that it's still two years out (In my estimation), and I set no time limit on getting it done right. I look forward to win 6.
However BGS Devs, have earned some shade with their "Loading Screens" nonsense.

Of more significance for Squadron 42, with the huge Still in Development caveat.

Starfield was that bad, I have removed it from my account & I bought the expansion
I was map skipping space BY CHOICE, once I reached the "Oil Rig" world I was done.
I have over 600 hours in Skyrim & never fought Alduin, or much of the vanilla content.
I have spent more hours in Enderal (my 2015 GOTY Runner Up to Witcher 3) than Vanilla Skyriim. I loved the exploration, the only thing even F76 got right, is gone.
I only own 32 bit Skyrim here, I remove each game when they release on GOG.
F76, Had a cash shop, I had zero interest.
When F4 & SSE added a Cash shops in 2017, to a game I bought with none, my passion for BGS died. Those games got removed from my account that same day.
Also because I see others getting doubted, simply because they keep their account private, even though you can find all the evidence of my years of being the main User support for Mod Organizer when Tannin42 was still the dev, 2013-16, on Nexus Mods & STEP, here's the proofs of purchase. My account is private & games are removed anyway.
Proof of Purchase (Steam in past, still owned on GOG)[imgur.com]
If you like Starfield, great, play the game while you have fun.
I had 50 hours of fun in Forsaken, & that's also a bad game.
Starfield was not fun for me, Todd Procedurally obliterated my exploration fun.
Zenimax Media killed my passion for BGS RPGs in 2017, Starfield buried that corpse
