Star Citizen, really?
So, after reading so many comments about Star Citizen being so much better than Starfield, and the space exploration of Starfield being compared to Star Citizen, as well and the questlines and everything, I decided to give it a go. They had an open Alpha last weekend, I believe it is still on going and I have to admit... the experience was... well find out below:

So the first thing that I did after successfully launching the game was to create a character, the tool was quite abstruse. Literally. Anyway, I managed to create the character after wondering for 10 minutes from where to start and how the tool actually works. Once more, unclear, complex even. However, I have to point out that they do have an interesting and unique character creator tool, just I wish it was a lot more intuitive.

Moving on, I finally managed to create my character after 40+ minutes and it wasn't because I was trying to make him look good but because I was trying to make him look... let's say something acceptable as a character that I usually play. Regretfully, the tool had very limited scope but I am not criticizing that, the game is still in Alpha state after all.

Finally, I managed to start the game, the performance was terrible, like really terrible so I am not sure why so many people claimed that the game performs better than Starfield, when in reality it isn't but I swallowed and moved on, dropped the settings even to High from Very High, I said myself, okay, not optimized that is okay it is an Alpha after all. You DO NOT criticize game's performance based on Alpha.

Finally, I got down to the main lobby where the game starts, I have to add here that I needed at least 30 or so minutes to get out from the first room in which you spawn until you figure out the controls, some are intuitive others are very confusing, some are even baffling. I also checked interactive objects and other things within the room but let's say that the controls for getting an object and then using that object were completely opposite of intuitive but I have to applaud the system they created here like grabbing an object and clipping it on the surface, it was snappy, interesting to be honest but I still think that they could have done it more intuitive to the average player.

Finally, I start my adventure in Star Citizen and my first mission is to get to the Spaceport to get my ship, part of the tutorial, therefore, I did and well, the rest you can follow in the video you can get, my first hand experience with Star Citizen and then you can even check my Starfield gameplay through that are 10 times better. All three recordings were done in the very same day within a short spasm of time just to make sure that I make proper comparison:

I do apologize in advance for the bad audio recording in Star Citizen, I honestly didn't realize that I was recording with my laptop mic throughout the entire time and I did not want to make a second video with false first-impression of Star Citizen, plus it does catch how I truly felt and how terrible the experience was.

Star Citizen is a crowdfunded game. Every dollar they get MUST go into development. That's the contract. If they don't, they can be hit by a pretty unpleasant class action lawsuit, and unlike what you see on most forums suggested by kids, this one would be a slam dunk. Contracts are usually brutally enforceable.

They originally wanted 500.000, half a million. They got 2 million. It started as a dangerously ambitious game, and got a lot more so. Every dollar they get go towards adding features above and beyond what was planned.

We're now at 670 million dollars, by estimates. (60 or so million from other investors.).

Star Citizen is bloatware by contract. It cannot NOT be bloatware, inasmuch as people still are throwing money at the screen and shouting 'take my money!!'. It was supposed to be finished almost ten years ago. But of course, you can't add 668 million dollars worth of features in no time.

I fear it's doomed; you cannot add that many features and still have a functional game. I have a lot of faith in Chris Roberts, but I fear he and his team(s) has a nightmare task.

At least Squadron 42 is supposedly feature complete and on its way to finished.

(It was supposed to be finished almost ten years ago)
Can you please don't say such lies ten years ago they had 3-6 people working on the game and it was just idea they started from scratch and developped the tools and tech since please do your search carefully.

Also good know here: As of 2020-12, CIG has a total of 695 staff. 512 of whom are developers.

Star Citizen is barely a tech demo that has been in open development for over 10 years and will probably fail, it isn't even a game. Starfield is a complete game that is actually quite good and gets nowhere near the credit it should.

It has no aliens .. it has no other races . it has no mounts . it has constant loading where it really didnt need it.
what exactly says Fallout, Skyrim, Elderscrolls, or Bethesda about Starfield?
aside Startrek without the hook.

It's not even released yet ... It has a shop that you can spend in though.
I wonder how much more money they need to actually release a game...

Wait, no I don't. SC looks so much like a scam.

This poor old thread, can we get this locked.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
