Hilarious response from starfield rep
They commented on a negative post of how empty and how they same layout is used.

They said when we landed on the moon it was empty but they were not bored.

Bro this is a game not real life I mean dam.

Why? What was cool about it? Just curious.

For one, I love exploration games, and that's what BGS is known for. Also, I was a huge fan of the "space race", even though I'm 52 and wasn't alive at the time. I love space, Stephen Hawking, black holes, quantum theory, I love all that stuff. So being able to just walk around the moon, in an immersive way, with what it would really look and behave , gravity, etc. was really cool to me. It may be boring for some, and I can understand that, others have different reasons for why they think it's not boring. Neither is right, and neither is wrong. People just to need to understand the different reasons on why others may like or not like things.

Salty comment from that rep...

...might've been too much for some, without an "irony!"-tag.

It made me curious enough to come to these discussion boards to see what's going on considering they copy pasted to almost every negative review about how the reviewer is wrong and didnt play the game right etc. Just overall incredibly weird and awkward, I agree.

DAE STARFIELD BAD?

Everyone should play the hecking underrated hidden gem Witcherino three with Geraldo!

Or the GOTY Baldurs Gate 3, just not right now because the devs added a gamebreaking bug into the game LOL.

this is one of the worst comments of all time.
The real moon landing, there were things to do. From the web:

In a mere two and a half hours, Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin collected 21.8 kilograms of rock and regolith, traversed the lunar surface a total distance of ~1–2 kilometers, deployed experiments (notably a seismometer to detect moonquakes, a lunar dust collector, laser-ranging retroreflector, and solar wind collector to determine the composition of the solar wind), and made measurements of the soil mechanics of the surface.

they did other things too (look at earth and around the sky, plant flag, take pictures, whatever), but that is enough for the differences to sink in:

within 5 min of landing on any of the rock moons, we have:
- scanned all 3-4 of the materials present, maybe mined a few pieces
- noted the lack of any plants and animals and special features to scan
- noted the lack of POI buildings
- played in low gravity for a min or two
- moved on to a more interesting environment.
because that is all there is to DO in this game.
even on a really good day, an extra 5 min and you have an extractor-outpost set up.

I studied astrophysics, astronomy and a number of related physical sciences at a rather prestigious university. I hate to have to break it to people, but space is actually really boring. Odds are overwhelming that there is life "out there", both far below us, developmentally, as well as so far beyond us we will never understand it, but it's spread out far. So far, in fact, it doesn't matter if it's there or not, we'll never actually see it for ourselves.

Am I disappointed to see a game, about the exploration of that empty space, is actually fairly empty? Not in the slightest.

Yeah the mission in the NASA launch pad pushed some of my buttons. That was awesome.

On the other hand, shortly before being through the game, visiting a moon or barren planet in the level 60+ outer parts can be boring. There's rarely really something to explore. From a realism standpoint that makes sense. It's not Disney Land everywhere. But from my player's perspective, the game world becomes smaller by that.
Bethesda should have spread the colonies and cities a little thinner and thus wider.

I think that the majority of people who have access to media produces the last 100 years have really been conditioned by that media to think of space as an exciting place always with some drama to be solved. From Buck Rogers, to Flash Gordon, to Star Wars, to Battlestar Galatica, to Star Trek to the Expanse there is always something going on. Most don't realize it is all tied into the people in the shows and their interaction with the world around them.

As to the OP post for some reason Bethesda has gone out of their way to reply to the negative views off this game more then I have seen them on any other game. The reply seems to be we designed it that way so you aren't playing the game correctly. Overall it isn't a good decision as it just compounds the effect of the review.

It's a fun thought to think that they will fill many of those planets with DLC as they claim that Starfield will be supported for a long time. Bethesda's point may be for Modders to also aid in filling those empty planets. If you agree with this position or not is personal opinion. We will see what the future holds...so far it's a pretty good game that is disappointing to some and appreciated by others. I was able to get 600 hours of game time out of it so it worked out fine for me. I am now off to a different game until DLC drops.
