How to Power Extractors
Should be simple... I had thought the extractors drew power from the total listed in the base overview, now I read that they need to be connected directly to a power structure. The thing is, as least as far as Solar and Wind Turbines go, I don't see the option of creating an output link that I could then connect to an extractor. Need these be He3 generators or something equally specific?

Thanks -realize I'm a bit high maintenance.

Hold e button on either the power source or the extractor and you will get an option for wire.

No they don't need to be linked.

As long as your are producing an amount of power equal to or greater than what you need all of your extractors should power up automatically.
You can run power links by going to one of your power generators and holding down the A button to bring up a menu (I use an Xbox controller so I don't know what key it is on mouse and keyboard) then find the power link option (I think that's what it's called) then run that line to what you want to power up.

Right. I had thought that as jumpin jas says the general power of the outpost also powered the extractors, but while my total power is more than sufficient, at least one extractor shows as not powered (the red line). I have noticed sometimes the preceding is temporary. But at least one guide said to connect the power source (wind, solar, He3-powered generator) to the extractor.

also I was wrong on my first post, when you are in that menu I think the option is called wire and not power link.

Oh, you'll love this. Turns out many of the various components needed to be repaired as the local fauna are viscous (even though I've built turrets. bots and a watchtower). They are back on line, and with it the extractors. They weren't un-powered. Sorry all.

you can build some turrets or security bots to kill the fauna.

Didn't he say he did that?

I mostly use solar collectors. The he3 generators are a royal pain to set up, moreso if you don't have he3 native to that planet. Typically I run extractors to a storage bin, and link several bins together at a good outpost, and collect it all near where you pop up when you fast travel to the place. I don't mess with the rest of it, like shipping it to another planet etc, I just land, grab, and return to ship. There are more complex ways, but that gets it done.

Hey daug-- do you think the Watchtower is effective for security? How would you rate security bots? I finally leveled up my skills to be able to build/use all the higher end structures and such. Your opinion very welcome. I'm on (I think) Narion. It has awesome resources but KILLER fauna, so that's all but surely what's wrecking my Outpost. Thanks mate - d.

I haven't used the towers yet so I don't know how good they are, but that guard dog bot works good against fauna.
