DLSS on 40 Series Reminder
Just wanted to say, for those of you running a 40 series cards and using DLSS Frame Generation: Selecting Frame Generation in-game disables / greys out the Vsync option. If you are using a G-Sync monitor like me, be sure to force V-Sync on in the Nvidia control panel either by "Global", or specifically for Starfield in the program settings tab. This way, the high FPS given by frame gen can be regulated by the V-Sync being enabled (which the game doesn't allow in its own settings). This prevents stutters and tearing. If you have no issue getting to your target refresh rate, then doing this also saves some of the GPU usage and drops temps.

And for non g-sync peeps who hate screen tearing and use framegen. Use control panel/manage 3d settings/program settings/starfield to select vertical sync/adaptive and select max frame rate/60 if that's your monitor refresh rate for example. Vertical sync adaptive works better then using On for me.

Bethesda said that FG will not be properly working with the Vsync enabled. Just cap the framerate like 4 fps under the monitor refresh rate and enable GSync.

They were talking about the option in-game specifically, and that is the case for most games with frame generation. Forcing v-sync through nvidia control panel works fine

Thx and I have a G-Sync monitor so I already was aware of this of putting v-sync in the nvidia control panel.
With G-sync its best to even turn v-sync off in every game and just use the global one.

Problem I have with this game now though, just updated to the latest patch, when I try to turn DLSS Frame Generation on the game locks up and I have to close the program :/
Got a solution for that?

Have an Asus RTX 4070 12GB OC edition.

I use a g sync monitor and it doesnt matter that with dlss enabled, v sync is grayed out. The performance increased a lot with dlss, double the framerate in certain areas.

I experienced ghosting of my own character movement under 3rd person view.

Read post again. That’s the point. V-Sync is greyed out because Bethesda disabled that option while enabling frame gen. That’s the fix up above.

Pretty much every game that has frame generation. Just a few:

Thanks for the tip, I will try this.

Although, if I remember correctly, once many people claimed that V-Sync should be disabled for the G-Sync to work properly. But I always get screen tearing without VS on my G-Sync monitor.

You can also just turn off vsync in Nvidia control panel and cap the framerate in nvidia control panel its what I do
