Is this game worth it to get the Digital Premium Edition?
I'm on the fence on this. At first, I planed to get the Premium if it went on sale for the holidays, as my Christmas gift to myself.

On one hand, this looked like a cool game on launch. But it apparently mods can fix some of the issues, I've not looked recently.

Is it still going to get dlc? the Creation Kit? Even with all I've read wrong with it, mods can improve stuff, but only if mods are made for it.

AFAIK it acts like a Season Pass but currently only adds a handful of cosmetics

Please try this on PC Game pass first and play at least 20-50 hours. If you like it after that buy it here for better mod support in the future. Sound good?

You are not missing out on anything worthwhile if you pass on the premium edition. Standard is fine. It's a good idea to hold out on buying the dlc until we have more info on it.

Even if this went on sale for $10 dollars, not even kidding, I would still tell you to play something else.

I mean play a decent game for free like backpack battles or something, this game ain't it man, its bad.

Absolutely not. Theres a reason why this game is the most refunded game of 2023. Dont waste your money.

It’ll probably be on sale tomorrow, 10-15%, so at least wait until then. $1 for 2 week Game Pass trial, is the safe bet if you’re unsure. I enjoy the game, but it has many faults.

There'll be sales all over, some have already started. Fanatical have the base game @ 25% off, the premium ed @ 20% off and the premium upgrade @ 17% off (meaning the cheapest way to get it is to buy the base game and the upgrade, rather than the premium ed outright).

Probably be others with similar deals if you have a preferred vendor...maybe even Steam, who knows, but they don't normally pre-release special day pricing do they? (I don't know, never really pay attention).

Is it likely that mods will fix the faults?

Mods can do many things but are still rather limited in scope atm due to only having unofficial tools

Some, sure. There are design issues though. You mileage may vary on if they bother you or not. If you've watched some videos, read some reviews, you probably have an idea what they are and if it's a problem for you. Over reliance on fast travel, for example.

The game is so stale you won't find mods like there was for skyrim or fallout3/4 and new vegas.

Top 20 mods on nexus are like u.i fixes lmao... I mean its just meh, even the mod selection is lame.

Honestly, it's not worth it for either edition right now. And any sale on the game is going to be minor.

Best bet is (as someone mentioned), to get it on PC Gamepass for now, play a little bit and see if you like it (or if it really aggravates you).

Right now any mods we have available are literally code hacks based on older (FO4) knowledge of the engine. The official modding tool (Creation Kit) won't be released for another ~5 months give or take. Any 3rd party mod you install in the meantime has the potential of trashing a save when an official patch lands - less chance with just visual mods.

From my perspective, the game's worth about $20 right now. I'll be waiting for either Summer 2024 or Winter 2024 sales, to see how much has been fixed, when the CK lands, and what modders can do with the game after we've had time for the dust to settle. It's just not a good (or safe) bet right now.

really the only reason to get the premium edition is for the shattered space dlc when that drops the cosmetics arnt all that great and only work for specific items which as you play the gear you end up getting later will replace the ones the cosmetic skins work on

That's worth mentioning. Regardless of how much the game is enjoyed, or not, by people - the bonus 'skins' to apply to a very small number of equipment items in the game was a total let down. I can't imagine anyone thinks otherwise.

i wouldn't, its worth a play through if you are into bethesda games but forking out extra for useless "premium" stuff for a game like this is better spent elsewhere
