Are there any small compact sized C class reactors?
Are there any that have atleast 30 or more power?

No. Class C are all 2 storey reactors.

Ahh well crap. Okay thanks.

I've never seen a 1U form factor Class C reactor.

They're all 2U.

But I can't claim there are none.

If you want a smaller ship just make a B-class. The differences between the two are very limited. Mostly turrets and the ability to push weight.

Yeah; honestly Class C isn't isn't worth the effort; especially since the Class B weapons out perform Class C and the Class B shields are very nearly as good.

There are a number of Class B reactors that exceed 30 power units. The one shown rates 39 and can be used at a personal outpost's landing pad with shipbuilder. It is of the "flatpack" configuration.

Yes, the 104DS is the endgame B-class reactor, unlocked at level 60.

Can you specify the Class B weapons that are better than Class C? My experience is that Class C ships are quite a bit stronger in combat, both defensively and offensively. I'm interested in different loadouts and how they work in concert with other ship options.

Level 60 isn't anywhere near endgame. I'm at 103 and still finding new stuff to do and advancing my character.

There's not a single C-class fixed weapon that's top tier. Since you can only have three weapon groups you'll never want a C-class one. Best ones are:

PBO-175 Auto Helion Beam (B-class)
Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector (A-class)
Exterminator 95MeV Auto Helion Beam (B-class)

You realize you'll be using that stuff during 'endgame' because there's nothing better, right?

If you use Turrets and put skill points into Particle Beams weapons for ships and Turrets, the Eradicator 75 MEV Neutron and PBO -300 Auto Alpha Turrets , both require C class reactors. I play on Very Hard and use 8 turrets and 6 x Vanguard Obliterator Auto Projectors.

My shield is the Class C 1600. I do well in ship combat at level 91.

There is no level cap in the game. And when it comes to ship modifications, once you get the Vanguard Obliterators, there will not be any better weapons available.

Ground combat however, is a different thing. Depending on how lucky you are with drops.

PAR weapons

Class A: Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector
Range 3km Fire rate 6.65
Hull/Shield Dmg: 11.54/11.54

Class B: PBO-175 Auto Helion
Range: 3km Fire Rate: 6
Hull/Shield Dmg: 19/19

Class C: Obliterator 250MeV Alpha Turret
Range 3.5km Fire Rate 1.5
Hull/Shield Dmg: 103.2/103.2

The Class C 250MeV Obliterator fires slower but does more damage over the same period of time as the Class A & B units. I use three in concert and they very quickly take shields down. I have used the other two in similar fashion and they are good but not quite as good. I also use BAL and MSL weapons, but the PARs do the most significant damage, often taking down ships on their own while I'm pounding away at a targeted vessel. My turrets are aimed both fore and aft for an effective 360 degree field of fire.

I use my personal shipbuilder pad for most of my work, and so have not encountered the Exterminator yet. Where can I find that unit?

It's a level 60 weapon that's being sold in Freestar territory. Akila, Hopetown, Neon.

The problem with the 250MeV turret is that it's not an autobeam which means it's ineffective with anything but full power.

Not a problem with a class C reactor rated at 40, intelligent crew, and master Aneutronic Fusion -- PAR and BAL both fully powered, MSL fully powered (but only needs 3 pips), shield (base 1600, 2880 in effect) fully powered, engine at about 75-80% with 100 Mobility. For more conservative scenarios, the other weapons are fine, even excellent, as I say I have used them often enough. But the Class C still outranks them when employed as designed. I've only had one battle since reaching L90 or so where my shield was even taken down, that against 5 spacer ships, three Hyenas and two Jackals as I recall. Actually had to use a Ship Parts. But the turrets were key to winning as they pasted their shields in all directions while I ripped up their hulls with BAL & MSL. The Class C components gave me a significant edge.

What setting are you playing on?

Normal atm, as is my usual practice with first playthroughs of any game, just to test the waters and learn the ropes. I'm planning on upping that with NG+2. Having learned a great deal about the game and ship-building in particular, I think it's time to step things up. I expect I'll be using more Ship Parts lol.
