Weapon symmetry in ship builder?
Are there any mods that anyone knows of that fix items like the laser in the ship builder, so that it can be placed on either side of a ship and one not look upside down?

EDIT... as EricHVela mentioned... I am referring to a "flip" option. Something that allows for symmetry of non-symmetrical items, such as the starting laser. It is correct on one side, but is upside down when placed on the opposite side. It is not "mirrored".

Many of the Structural pieces allow you to put weapons on them, if they can not there is a horizontal weapons mount with 2 weapons slots on it.

*edit* i wont recommend mods at this time simply because the official creation kit has not been released yet ontop of the fact for the current ones i have no clue what is available

Yeah. My neuroses go on fire when I have a symmetrical design and the lasers aren't. (It's fine for my non-symmetrical ships.)

I wish they had a "flip" option for lasers, too: left, right, and neutral for putting one dead center.

Yes, this is what I meant. A "flip" option.

I think the topic was misunderstood. It seems some people think it's a matter of being able to place the lasers. That's not the problem. Correct?

The laser item itself is lopsided and looks one way on one side of the ship and, by comparison, upside down on the other side. The weapon mounts don't fix that. (It looks lopsided when placed in the center, too.)

But... the game flips these guns... you may need to go up or down a bit before it does but as long as it is a weapons mount slot the weapon should pop on it. Guess i dont get it then..?

He already knows that.

Ship weapons are not mirrored. That is what the OP is talking about. Many pieces block weapons from being mounted on both sides precisely because weapons are not "mirrored", they are just rotated.

So a weapon with an offset ammo box wont fit on left and right side of the ship.

When i posted that the message above was not yet visible for me, after reading that one i knew what the issue is but figured my post was not hurting the conversation and could be left standing :-) Op talks about the fact the actual projectile does not line up nicely with the others resulting in a odd fire patern. Have not even noticed that thus far, gonna watch for it later on today. Only thing i can think off too fix this is to delve deep into the actual game code and find out the alignment issue to then fix it.

My ship is a big floating cargo box with automatic laser turrets, missiles and a single ballistic ♥♥♥♥ you cannon, can't say I've noticed this.

I tried using turrets and changed them out as they constantly attacked friendly targets.

my auto turrets will attack anything that is "targeted" during battle if it is in range. Sometimes I shoot a good guy by mistake, then I reload the last save before I jump into the system. I try again and NOT press the E key.

In my experience this only happens if you accidentally lock on a friendly. This can happen when the fight is tightly spaced but you are at a distance. I have thus become a lot more careful about manually selecting targets, as the turrets do a pretty good job and the missile lock follows suit. If not, I wait until the targets are well clear of each other before doing it manually.
