A pistol backup, a scoped rifle and a shotgun
I carry 7 types at a time. A handgun or pistol on #1. SMG type weapon on #2. Assault Rifle on #3. Shotgun on #4. Sniper type on #5. Energy/Laser weapon on #6. A Grenade Launcher or Minigun on #7. I probably carry more guns than I need as well
Pistol (supressed) for short range stealth
Rifle with reflex sight (Furious, also supressed) for close/mid-range
Sniper rifle for long range
Shotgun for crowd control
... tho right now I'm carrying 6 because I found my first 50 cal (Hard Target) and it came preloaded with mods giving it high magnification and nearly 200 range, so I admit to having a little fun with that lol
I'd probably carry a heavy weapon as well, but for the same reason I avoid grenades, I hate sifting through all the lootable things after they've been blown around the area, so I don't.
For a lot of the game I carried the Revenant but seldom used it, since it uses rare ammo and burns through it fast. For most of the fighting I had two ballistic rifles and a backup energy weapon.
In the lategame I find myself using the Trickshot pistol most of the time (a nice advantage from doing 1-of-a-Kind Salvage very late). For more serious foes I've got a modified Advanced Magshear and Novalight. Ammo restrictions go away in the lategame since you'll want to buy ammo just to be able to unload loot.
I also like to keep disruptors on hand just in case a mission comes up which doesn't reward killing. And a Titanium Wakizashi for fun.
Va'ruun rifle for the serous damage, Orion for trash kills and a Beowulf with silencer for situational kills. And a Hard Point sniper rifle, suppressed.
A kitted out suppressed Hard Target for long to mid.
A suppressed Beowolf for mid to short.
That covers pretty much every scenario. If I get rushed by a group at short range that's what space powers are for.
Oh, you're talking about the game.....
That's where the Va'ruun Rifle comes into play for me. Normally, one or two shot kills on anything. But like you, the power Phased Time at level X, uses only 18 power and is amazingly OP. Other powers would work well too I suppose. But it's my go to power when I need to use one.
